  1. Why does he even need a gun? Just carry around some baseballs and give any perps the heater.
  2. Obviously Fernandez is worth more than Stroman and you kind of have to do it, but it's still not an easy trade. Fernandez is a glass cannon. Prototypical infected Q delivery.

  4. CJ Wilson is on the trade block. It's only an interesting note because with his skill level, age, and $20M contract, he should be worth a little bit less than Dickey. So maybe if he gets dealt you can get a feel for Dickey's trade value.
  5. lol, you are getting nerfed hard. I'll give you Pap-smear for Jansen
  6. Wade Miley in Safeco - fantasy SP2, or just a strong SP3? (note - no other options)
  7. Guys the delta between Chris Davis and Jason Heyward could be well over $100 million, total contract. Heyward's contract might end up being Chris Davis' contract TIMES TWO, END TO END. A contract centipede, if you will. Ass to mouth contracts. It's silly to say that if they can sign Chris then they should just sign Jay. Just silly.
  8. It's absofruitly fabulation. These rumours are hogwash, no substance at all. Just speaking hypothetically. Davis might be undervalued because of his inconsistencies, strikeouts, drugs, etc etc etc
  9. Davis and the Jays makes perfect sense if you think the contract will have value. 1B and left handed hitting are both weak points. He's kind of young at 30 and if it's a five year commitment, that's not super dangerous. Two core bats are poised to possibly leave after 2016. Fire Smoakabello into the sun if you can actually sign Davis - who cares. Historic offense!
  10. Fangraphs crowd has 5/$100 MLBTR has 6/$144 pretty big disparity
  11. Chavez' service time is already at 5.108 so he'll be a free agent next offseason
  12. I don't see any reason why Howard Berger would have this type of info. I don't even think he's employed right now. Linking through his twitter, looks like he just started a new blog on Dec 4th. He's probably trying to create some kind of buzz around his name. This is possibly a desperate man making a calculated lie: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/small-business/maple-leafs-bloggers-tax-loss-case-highlights-difficulties-of-independence/article25308466/
  13. Toronto looks to have taken a very passive, low-key approach to the SP market, but that's not really the case. They obviously took an educated guess at what the market would be, saw a boom coming, and decided to act swiftly at the start of free agency. So it was an aggressive approach - they acted fast and locked up Estrada, traded for Chavez and inked Happ all before the market was even set. In being aggressive in this sense they accepted some risks. One risk was they they were overestimating how much it would take financially to sign one of the "swing-man" free agents like Norris or Cahill. It seems like this might have happened... but the net benefit of the entire approach, if Happ and Estrada are sub-market deals, could still be there. I think it's always important to look at the big picture because transactions never happen in a nutshell.
  14. V.Mart / Zobrist deals will be the templates
  15. This smells like borderline tampering. "MLB's tampering rules say "there shall be no negotiations or dealings respecting employment, either present or prospective, between any player, coach or manager and any club other than the club with which [the player] is under contract or acceptance of terms," which in English means that a team is not allowed to discuss employment with a player while he is under contract with another team."
  16. Bautista 1B, Edwin DH, sign Heyward, sign Cuteo, sign Chapman next year. C'mon ROgers!!!
  17. He arguably has less of a shot there. #6 on their depth chart but the top 5 are all really strong.
  18. Ugh, missing on Bud Norris for $2.5 and Cahill for $4.25 is extremely annoying. Both in the same realm of talent as Chavez. Cost less in terms of $. Cost nothing in terms of Hendrickses. I mean in a nutshell I'd prefer Chavez over either of them. Would have been nice to add Cahill as the #7 though.
  19. The offseason has simply become a part of the spectator sport. People just want to see their team do STUFF. ANY STUFF. Three years for Mark Lowe! Entertain me, executives! Give me something to retweet!!!!
  20. Moot point; bullpen is already decent
  21. Mark Lowe wasn't even very good as a Blue Jay. I don't understand the strong desire to have him back. Any RH RP will suffice. Maybe it's a minor league deal guy and Toronto gets the 2016 incarnation of "Mark Lowe".
  22. Irena hotter
  23. Definitely. But I would be tempted to offer him a loooong term contract next winter and ask him to start. He might get offered something approaching 5/$80 to close. I believe this would be both a record AAV and and term for a reliever. Here is the top of the historical closer market: Papelbon 4/$50 Soriano 2/$28 Robertson 4/$46 Rivera 3/$45 (back in 2008!) Maybe some team offers him 6 years but haggles the AAV down (6/$84?). I think some team should offer him a contract over $100M in total value, under the condition that he converts to a starter. If he fails you can always pull the plug and move him back to the bullpen. The guy will still be sort of young, he would probably still sit ~97 which would be the best in baseball for starting pitchers. He has surprisingly clean mechanics. He has three pitches. Do it, Toronto! I wonder if a team could sneak into the Chapman market late, offer him a more lucrative contract than any other team while asking him to start, and be able to get him for less money than Kenta Maeda will cost this winter.
  24. How much will Chapman get as a FA?
