  1. Darno would look great on Toronto's DL, agreed
  2. Adding to an already good offense has synergistic benefits though
  3. I love the idea of adding even more offense to this team. Just keep stacking bats and then sit back and revel in the positive feedback and the ~9 runs for per game. But, won't happen.
  4. +1 Bring back the zecutive of the year Less suits, more toots!
  5. It seems like the Blue Jays are married to Smoakabello and not really interested in looking for creative upgrades at 1B. The fact that they quickly gave Smoak $3.9M is evidence of this. A shame, really.
  6. Steamer600 Cola - 108 wRC+; 1.1 fWAR Pedro - 112 wRC+; 1.1 fWAR Smoak - 96 wRC+; 0.6 fWAR Pearce - 110 wRC_; 2.0 fWAR Pedro is a career 118 vs. RHP while Smoak is a 101. Colabello is a 113 vs. RHP but contrary to what Grant thinks, that split has little meaning. Pedro would improve the team's offense vs. RHP but is it worth the drop in defense from Smoak, and is it worth (presumably) the increased payroll? He was projected for I think $8M in arbitration so he'll look to approach that figure. You would lose roster flexibility by replacing a switch hitter with someone who can't hit lefties. You would gain some by adding an emergency 3B, though.

    Columbus just got impaled
  8. oh, obviously that would be a grossly unfair transaction in favour of Toronto Chi Chi Gonzalez has way more prospect clout though. Kind of like Martin Perez or Jarred Cosart.
  9. too rich
  10. Sanchez might be better lowl
  11. lol Gonzalez is pretty bad
  12. Rodney has already been down the toilet and back once. Can he swirl around one more time? Stay tuned and find out, on this weeks episode of Fire Shapiro
  13. Top Iginla Offer: 29 year old W with like 20 points + 5th round pick Top Doan Offer: 33 year old C with like 15 points + 4th round pick Alternative Combo Offer: 23 year old RW with like ~20 points for both players
  14. This is probably the last useful year for both of them. Might as well let someone buy them and make a run
  15. Well in that case, you did a really good job
  16. Iginla and Doan are up for public auction. No reserve bid. Highest offer by tomorrow at my bedtime gets them, no matter what it is. Just send on Yahoo
  17. Big Puma - started transitioning when he was 29 and it took about 3 years. Also, NL so that forces the issue. Walker - actually played 1B early in his career but never touched the position towards the end. Ibanez - look again. Only 144 games at 1B in his entire career. Died a LF/DH/statue. Hanley - a bit early. Swisher - has been a 1B/OF his entire career. 0/5
  18. It's not as common for guys to change positions in their 30s as you folks seem to think. Old, plodding outfielders generally just turn into statutes in whatever outfield corner they have become accustom to. Find me a list of old outfielders from this millennium who got slow and moved to first base in their 30s
  19. Catch and release today. The lucky ones.
  20. It's true. The last thing grown men need is some quack trying to get in their head all the time while they try to work. This is just a PR move by Sham Pie Row
  21. He died in a horrific Call of Duty accident
  22. If Ben Rowen doesn't make this team, then #FireShapiro
  23. Rule changes killed it. At least 3 on 3 is cool.
  24. Just because I was thinking that trade might be the fairest way to redistribute Crosby, and Parise. Or at least a way preferable by the league. Also, creates some big action. It would be a Greenwood style auction probably
