  1. Well then I will assume you are a virgin
  2. Most Sunshine Girls are horses, Spanky. You'll need to provide pics or else it didn't happen (rule on the internet)
  3. I like to buy Pizza Pizza garlic dips from the grocery store and just spread it on my white toast in the morning
  4. yeah but #1 is a traitor #3 actually scares me
  5. I think IQ and baseball IQ would be well correlated but not necessarily the same thing. Brett Lawrie is probably dumb in both regards. It's probably entirely possible to be a brick IRL but be smart at sports.
  6. Being smart about baseball Everything Brett does well is instinctual. His defense is purely instinctual. When he succeeds at the plate it's all instinct and athleticism in a "see ball, hit ball" kind of way. It's hard to ever imagine him becoming a cerebral, patient hitter, isn't it?
  7. You don't throw it out the window, it's part of the sample. Noise isn't really a technical or scientific term but it's basically just unexplained variation from the truth/mean. I'm not really a stats nerd so I'm the wrong guy to explain anything. Too bad we had to put Nox in the ground earlier this year We can assume based on all prior information that Brett Lawrie's true defensive skill isn't -15 runs. Something noisy happened in 2015. I'm not sure what. But there could be some truth underneath the noise, if he did actually decline a bit. We won't know for a little while though.
  8. It's not Steamer's fault that Burch has the inverted L and went the way of fellow phenom Mark Prior.
  9. Lawrie only projects for 1.5 wins at this point. It's over, man. Maybe the best recent example of why personality matters in player development.
  10. Ben Revere straight up? lol
  11. Well the amount of reasonable/expected decline in defensive skill at 25 years old, with no debilitating injury, is very small. Actually, players should still be improving at 25. http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/625887/feilding.jpg?_ga=1.138826931.1292300710.1445115791 I don't know what the reasonable amount to "chalk up to noise" is. But we know that one season of UZR isn't a stable measurement of skill. Make your own conclusions about likelihood. We saw Lawrie play defense every day for a few years.
  12. Well his defensive skill at 3B didn't all of a sudden plummet by ~25 runs.

  14. His UZR was just as bad at 3B
  15. Has to just be noise...
  16. Sounds like the Lowrie trade might precipitate a trade of Lawrie: http://m.sfgate.com/news/article/Jed-Lowrie-rejoins-A-s-Brett-Lawrie-likely-to-6657610.php
  17. No, you're just confusing points. It isn't a slight to Osuna to say that there is no viable argument to taking him over Syndergaard. I love Osuna. He is fantastic and special. But there's still no argument to be made for taking him over Syndergaard. Nothing. And of course it's crazy to compare them. Syndergaard projects as a top 15/20 SP in baseball... Osuna would project to be maybe Toronto's 2nd best RP and maybe a top 60 reliever in baseball (generous - Steamer doesn't think so). Do you understand the chasm there? It's massive
  18. yeah but you don't even watch the games
  19. You're right that it's not determinative by any means. I thought the relationship was stronger. GB rate probably only has a small effect on HR/FB%. Since 2002 Bottom third in GB% had HR/FB of 9.90% Middle third............ 10.06% Upper third.............10.66% http://i.imgur.com/HoEh3yK.png R^2 = only 0.0225
  20. He is a groundball pitcher, so when he gives up flyballs it's probably on a pitch that he didn't execute well that got hammered. You actually see this a lot with GB guys. Check out Keuchel.
