  1. 455 foot home run good lord
  2. I don't think he has a chance at 600 HR. He'd have to have a MASSIVE positive turnaround in health and then average like 33 HR for the next six years before retiring.
  3. He has some borderline stuff in his profile so he could go either way (improve or get exposed). But he will end up around 2 WAR this year and will project for 3+ going forward based on age and stats. 88 wRC+ is not really "absolute s***" for a 22 year old infielder. But his K rate and mediocre maxEV make me think stardom is much less likely than Yankee fans were hoping for. Kind of has some Jon Villar, Ian Desmond-ish vibes...
  4. The bullpen is stacked now. People are just used to mediocrity and can't see the forest for the trees at the moment. Richards - elite whiff rate Romano - elite projections, track record, stuff Hicks - elite velo, stuff, and GB rate Swanson - very good total package reliever Mayza - elite results (ERA, lol) Garcia - reliable strike-thrower, good stuff, probably unlucky so far Cabrera - high upside second lefty Green - wild card with elite history Jackson - worthwhile journeyman Francis - perfectly cromulent extra arm When you consider that three or four of these names are almost irrelevant for playoff considerations, you realize how good it is right now. If Yimi Garcia is the worst reliever in your pen then it is f***ing loaded. In past years this pen would have been Romano-Mayza-Yimi and then four scrubs. Toronto has not had a bullpen this good in a long, long time.
  5. The Yankees are horrible and it's awesome. They also probably can't reset any time soon. They owe Stanton big money, DJLM $15Maav through 2026, Rizzo $17M next year, Rodon dumb money through 2028. They can keep payroll here and try to add free agents to replace the small amount of money that is coming off the books (Donaldson, Severino, etc. about $60M coming off the books) but tricky to do that without signing scrubs or committing to more long term money. They also have several significant players rising in Arb costs. They kind of..... desperately need Volpe and a couple of other guys to turn into cheap stars.
  6. 43 pitch blown save for Andres Munoz...
  7. Schneider has not played much 3B in the minors the last two years The org must not think of him as a decent enough 3B defender
  8. Would rather sit Espinal but yeah I don't see a single reason to play Espinal over Schneids. Sighhhhh.
  9. No, you weren't. Everyone agrees that the 2021 season results sucked
  10. It's fine to be upset or disappointed that they did not make it in 2021 It is not fine or reasonable to criticize the FO for "not going for it" or "failing" or whatever your broader point is or was
  11. It begins The ascent The Bo Bichette trajectory
  12. yes. yes they are.
  13. Man he is probably done. It's take what you can get season.
  14. The O's pulled like, two rabbits out of their ass. Let's simmer down. Baker and Cionel Perez both kind of lost it on them this year. Relievers are fickle. Bautista looks like a found stud but Cano could be a pumpkin next year.
  15. I could definitely see a behind-the-times team like the Red Sox overpaying Merrifield... sure
  16. Brandon Drury had a 3 WAR season at age 30 and only got 2/$17M Profar was 2.5 WAR at 30 and barely got an MLB deal. $7M I think. Turner, Pederson, Carpenter all had big old guy years in 2022 and none got $25M. They got 2/20, 2/12, 2/22 I don't see any need to give Merrifield a bag of money. There will be other options. Try to get him to take a nice little 2 year deal, sure, but don't bid against yourself.
  17. this ruined my day thanks
  18. what the f*** are you guys even talking about they DID go for it in 2021. They traded two top prospects for Berrios! getting too aggressive for a reliever is how you end up doing dumb s*** like trading Bryan De La Cruz for a month of Yimi Garcia. The Astros literally did that in 2021 lmao.
  19. I have talked to people in baseball who have said things like "line drive rate is the hardest thing to project" Whit is funny. Same player at 34 that he was in his 20s. In almost every single way.
  20. He still has his core skills But the physical talent has eroded to a point where everything is probably teetering on the brink Yes, "pure luck" was the wrong phrase More like... at any given point the player might be replacement level or worse
  21. The best thing a hitter can do in baseball is just not swing Belt is proving this He's a science experiment Vlad with Belt's approach is a .300/.400/.600 hitter
  22. I am surprised at Belt's fWAR being 1.6 I was thinking it would be under 1 His bWAR is almost the same though; 1.4 I kind of think he has been horrendous and it is just working out from pure luck. Like, there are massive holes in his swing and his K rate is astronomical. He is a surprisingly competent baserunner for a slow 35 year old though and his defense in limited action at 1B has been positive.
  23. imagine if the kid is HIS from when she was 13 or 12?
