I didn't like having to give up d'Arnaud + Synder, but I could tolerate it to get an ace pitcher in the name of winning now.
I didn't like taking on all that salary in the Marlins deal, but I could tolerate it to rebuild the rotation + Reyes in the name of winning now.
The problem is that we've mortgaged our long-term sustainability, and don't have any of the short-term success that we're supposed to have. Playoffs aside, I was just looking forward to the excitement of being in the race into September, but we've been in a hole since pretty much Day 1.
One one hand, it seems like this organization might still be in decent shape with guys like Hutchison coming back soon and a few nice pieces in the minors, but the problem with that is that we still have the same management team and organizational philosophy overseeing everything.
