I'm not worried about Jansen. The defense looks borderline elite, and I'm pretty sure he's going to put up at least an 80 wRC+. The floor looks like average defense-first starting catcher right now.

I don’t think either should be fired, but I’ll be surprised if Rogers signed off on a 95-100 loss team this year, and I certainly don’t think they’ll be ok with repeating it in 2020. I’m guessing there will be pressure on Shatkins to improve the product.

The last two young starters I traded away were Glasnow and Woodruff in DDL. We should all expect Sandy Alcantara to develop into an ace immediately.

Yeah, Shapiro's contract expires after 2020. He's good as his job and would certainly have other options if he or the team wanted to end the relationship. I really hope to hear news about a multi-year extension for him soon, because the course of the team is right even if a lot of the individual decisions haven't worked out. And you might be right that Shapiro's contract status limited the options available to him when it came to Atkins. Maybe he didn't have the authority to extend Ross beyond 2020? The dynamic between the two is really interesting to me. I'd be interested in knowing how much rope Atkins actually has with Shapiro, assuming Shapiro is here beyond 2020.

Eddie Rosario is the 37th-most valuable player in yahoo this year. I would like to move him for a top SP. If he plays to projections he's going to come close to 40/100/110. He's also just 27.

Anyone know the details of Atkins' extension? I keep seeing that it's through at least 2020, but I imagine the term actually has to be longer than that? A 1-year extension would indicate to me that Mark Shapiro isn't convinced that Atkins is the right guy for the long-term.

Travis Bergen is a 25-year old reliever with a 4.24 ERA, 4.83 xFIP, a 6.7% swinging strike rate, and a wonky shoulder. DSJ is a 26-year old outfielder with a league average bat (at best) and horrible defense I love when things work out exactly as they were expected to. I can't believe the whining over those two on this forum.

I respect the hustle, but players who’s MiLB eligibility expire aren’t available until the next cut has passed. I would have had to leave him on my farm through the cut for him to become a free agent.

Yup. The 10 extra wins or whatever that separate 28th from 20th mean our young roster was 10 wins better. That means a lot more for the future than the difference between 3rd and 11th in the draft. -
It’s insane that he was immediately a 145 wRC+ at 19/20 with almost no minor league reps. He has a chance to put up special numbers in his prime.
