As a noob basketball fan: why would Durant want to leave Golden State if they can afford to keep him? If he's healthy this year, they probably win another title. Why not stick around and try to build one of the best dynasties ever?

That somehow seems less egregious than leaving Julian Merryweather and Taylor Ward on his roster for 3 months in a supposed competitive season.

He doesn't really have a choice. He has some legit good rotation pieces, but the offense of Bregman, Olson, and a bunch of trash isn't going to cut it. And with only one good prospect, and no 1sts or 2nds in the draft, it looks like another 6-year rebuild.

If Edwin does get to 500 homers, he probably still finishes at less than 40 fWAR (he's at 33.3 right now). Does he get into the HoF? It's crazy that we're even having this conversation about a guy who was waived in his age-27 season and finished his age-28-season at 7.5 fWAR. Would be kind of like Randal Grichuk suddenly going on a 10-year run as one of the best hitters in baseball.
