  1. Peralta is a free agent after this season
  2. Imagine running baseball ops and not even having the freedom to trade a broken reliever without the owner stepping in and killing the deal.
  3. I don't think its just being "wimpy". I'm sure they've had a lot of internal discussion about making an addition like Skubal, but believe that the way for them to maximize their chances at a WS is to be a very, very good team every year vs. moving pieces that they think will help them compete for the next 5+ years to increase their chances at a 2026 title from 9 to 14% or whatever. I think this is defensible. You don't necessarily need a super-team to win. The Braves weren't in 2021. The Rangers weren't in 2023. The Jays weren't last year. You do need to make the playoffs though. I think there are also financial reasons that make sense as well. The Brewers are legitimately a small market team. The ideal model for them in the current format is to be competitive every year. This becomes a lot harder to accomplish if they're cashing blue chip pieces for rentals.
  4. It's a very good return for a rental. Dodgers maybe uniquely positioned to to make this kind of deal because a) they'll be extending Skubal after the season, b) they're positioned so well financially and talent-wise that they don't really need cheap early-career talent, c) they were already the heavy WS favourite before this trade (going from like 35-40% WS odds may be more valuable than going from 8-13?) and d) they're chasing something very very rare: a threepeat I understand why they'd move talent like this when teams like the Rays or Brewers wouldn't
  5. Guardians have given up on Bo Naylor
  6. Chris Sale now looks like a slam-dunk HoFer. Love the late-career rebound to get himself over the line
  7. Jesus Christ, we're not going to get anything for Bieber
  8. Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia Getting Checked For Thoracic Outlet Syndrome - MLB Trade Rumors I think Yimi's career is over
  9. Would have thought Early had more value than Mead
  10. Weird list. I feel like most players wouldn't mind playing a year in Milwaukee, or Seattle if if you're a pitcher.
  11. I feel like as a front office you have to be confident that you can find 2-win CF cheaper than paying someone like Varsho 23M. A team like the Rays would find that lack of creativity straight up undignified.
  12. It's completely asinine. I hope he's deeply embarrassed about what has happened this season.
  13. I still can't believe he's slugging 0.349 in late July. Like, that doesn't even feel like it should be possible in his age-27 season.
  14. That's the bones of a last-place team in the ALE, especially if Vlad doesn't remember how to hit
  15. It really sucks that Gausman is nuking his trade value on the way out the door
  16. The ship is sinking. Play for your contracts.
  17. Yeah. Someone can just add an 'Other Sports' thread to the main forum. Nobody reads the subforums
  18. Extension was signed before the 2025 season. I can't imagine what he would have swindled Rogers for if it was actually after his playoff run. 700M?
  19. OK this honestly just depressing. His OBP is now higher than his SLG and he has the 5-th worst ISO in the league among qualified hitters. Basically we should all be panicking right now.
  20. 11 posts in the GDT and we’re in the 6th inning. Fan apathy setting in
  21. lmao why is Lindor showing up his manager there?
  22. I don't know how Schneider resists the urge to drop Vlad to 6th or something, if for no other reason than to be petty and shame him.
  23. We get to watch Juan Soto and marvel at what a true 500+M superstar hitter is supposed to look like.
