That was a terrible piece of managing there. Couldn’t have been clearer it was time for a pitching change after Ohtani

B2B!  Unreal

Both pitches were right down the pipe for the taking.  Should have been pulled after the Bauers bomb to take the lead and his 99th pitch. After that long at bat, he was done.

Both managers a bit slow on the trigger tonight

Ironic to see Snell lit up 3rd time thru the lineup when he's throwing well.  Did Roberts go with the analytics? Or trust his gut/eye too much? Should he be subject to ridicule?

Maybe it's just baseball?

Nah they were both slow to react given the circumstances.

One win away from seeing the Brewers vs either the Rays and Guardians in the World Series, one month before the sport shuts down in hopes of getting a salary cap in order to assist with “competitive balance” and payroll disparity.

Baseball Gods definitely had a hand in this one.

The analytics clearly say pulling the guy is the right move.  The anecdotes exist on both sides.  However you can't pull the guy because pulling him will lead to MUCH more grief including players being pissed.   Pull him and the reliever gets crushed massive controversy.  Keep him in and he get crushed 'that's baseball'.

Recent cases where not pulling the guy was wrong move:  Snell last night.   Jose '4 run inning' Soriano ** against the tigers mid September.

After that Tigers game I looked up Soriano's 3rd time threw stats and they were awesome actually, so he should be allowed 3rd time through?  I don't think so.  I think those stats were small sample size and should be weighted with league average 3rd time through.

So analytics show pulling the guy is the right move.  Anecdotes show both blowing up at times.

** obviously you are not pulling a guy with a no-hitter,.  I know that you morons.  1st hit get a guy up.  3rd hit pull him is the right move.

As a reminder.  Jose '4 run inning' Soriano doesn't give up 4 runs every inning, just one inning, and on that September night, that started our fall, it was the 7th.

Yeah - agreed - I think it works like this.

Pull him early + bullpen blows it = heavy criticism, analytics are ruining baseball

Pull him early + bullpen dominates = no discussion - no credit to analytics or the manager

Leave him in + he blows it = some criticism, but hard to rip the guy for sticking with his starter

Leave him in + he gets out of it = manager is a genius, trusts his eyes/gut, trusts his horse out there
