Well, the Jays are still hanging around.

Can we just add S. Miles to the starting rotation?

How many innings does he have left after spending all that time injured?

If they want him as a starter it wont be until next season and it'll probably be in Buffalo to build up innings first.

Need two starts from him to close out this season.

As an opener for 2-ish innings... maybe.

Gotta remember he pitched a grand total of 7.1 innings in all of 2024 and 8.2 in all of 2025. He's already pushing past 85 IP this year. The arm is likely getting pretty worn down.

If they squeak in the playoffs he'll most certainly be on the playoff roster too. I really don't think they want to push him much past 100 IP.

I wish the rookie could hit better, I enjoy his enthusiasm and quickness behind the plate, Kirk has gotten so sloppy n slow compared to last year

Dont say such things... Brownie will blow a gasket if you talk about the coaching staff lol

He plays deep against everyone because hes a slow dude so it allows him to react to balls easier.  He just doesnt have the skillset to adjust too much to that but I agree with you.

Handily? Ehhhh I wouldn’t go that far, but I’m happy they could squeeze out a win against the bottom dwellers, just shows we take our jays seriously and ain’t happy when they act like little leaguers, they’re barely playing .500 for the first time since the first of the year, they can handle the criticism they’ve earned it

Last year was magical, dumb managerial decisions mostly worked out amongst many other things. Now that adversity has hit, JS just sits and continues the course and prays things will turn around instead of pushing the envelope a bit.

Doesn’t really explain the quantity of mental mistakes we’ve witnessed this season. It wasn’t even close to this bad last year, and its not even the new guys that are the issue. Well… Sanchez. But the rest is just dumb mistakes from guys like Vlad, Gimenez, Springer, Ernie, etc.

He could do 10 innings over 3 appearances.  Exactly how that looks?  Not sure.  Ideally Spaghetti guys innings are miles.  Spaghetti is only going 3 innings anyway.

He looks way fresher than anyone.  How much stock do we put into that?

Why not Perry/Miles/Yesivage get 25 important innings over last 2.5 weeks?  This can be done without pushing any of them.  Why waste Yesivage in Buffalo.  Not like he had an arm injury.  Let him go 2 innings 3 innings 4 innings up here.   Miles 3,3,3.   Perry 3,3,3.  That's 27 innings.  Spaghetti guy and Miles straw finish games if Jays get behind 7 or more, and piece the rest of the important innings together with better arms.

If the decisions worked out why would you characterize them as being "dumb"?

One underrated aspect of Soriano is that he can hold runners and field his position well. The A's had 5 steals on Monday and 0 yesterday.

In addition, he locates well (despite his BB/9) and induces a ton of groundballs. Add in his ability to hold runners and field well and everything plays up.

I think with a good offseason he could get his Stuff+ numbers to return and he'll take a nice step forward next year.

 groundouts to flyouts yesterday: 15-0

His only 2 flyballs went out of the park.
