- The warrior larping, including pre-game speeches from a navy seal, while every other team was just having a blast listening to music and having a great time

not only that, a navy seal who:

  • his entire grift is telling people that he was the one who killed bin laden (despite the fact that nobody in the military is willing to confirm it)
  • has a DUI and an assault conviction
  • told a bunch of kamala voters online that "if there was no social media, they would be his concubines"

not a great look for ol' DeRo

Not sure it ended up mattering because they couldn't couldn't hit Edouardo Rodriguez in the final, but if the best pitcher on the planet is willing to make one start for you, how do you not do everything in your power to line him up for the final, instead of a pool play game against Great Britain?

Yeah agreed 100%. If the US knew Skubal could only make one start this entire tournament, why not save him for the semis or Finals. Was a waste using him against Great Britain.

Makes your realize how close Canada could be to winning a WBC.

Even with a roster missing some important pieces, they won their pool and kept things against the US very close. If Italy could make the Final 4, Canada could as well. Anything could happen in these types of tournaments.

Sucks we're not going to the Olympics. Canada with Freeman, Pivetta, Tong, Brash, and Smith could have won some games

Judge is a great face for the game. He’s larger than life and is one of the best hitters in the world, a perfect combination. That does not make you the defacto captain of team USA

USA Baseball feels like Hockey Canada how they are both suffering from the old boys club operation. Tripping over their own feet

Regular people can’t possibly understand what it’s like to sacrifice for the homeland and do battle in the trenches. The enemy must be kept in front of you at all times.

This is f*cking disgusting on so many levels.  The level of indoctrination is insane.  What a douchebag.

You're playing every game in your own backyard.

How about a team like Japan and Korea having to play games in the US? How about Canada having to go down to Puerto Rico to play games?

This tournament schedule definitely benefits the US more than any of the other teams competing in this tournament.

I want to see Japan host the WBC Finals next time.

The location benefit them, for sure.

Aside from location, the scheduling was kind of bush league. Some teams got to circle back to their ace for the last game of pool play (like Cuba against us) because they had 4 days off after their first game. We didn't get that luxury and had to play Cuba using our 4th starter against their ace, And then USA had a game off between their semi-final and final, but Venezuela didn't. So USA's relivers were rested while Venezuela's guys had to go back to back earlier than they would typically.

Yeah the schedule was really bush league.

How do you schedule the Finals a day after the semis? Both teams should have a day off (so either both teams play in the semis on the same day or one team has two days off, while the other has one day off).

WBC Finals should have really been tonight.

I've never seen bigger ******** than holding the finals a day after the second semi-final game so one team had to play an intense back-to-back while the winner of US/DR had a day to rest everyone, especially their top relievers. I don't think it was a purely strategic decision that William Contreras sat in the finals, I'm pretty sure the Brewers would have requested that he not play consecutive high intensity games behind the dish this early in the year.

He wasn't available for those games as the timing wouldn't allow him to be on regular rest for opening day.  There is a reason Yamamoto and Skenes pitched in the quarters.

Skenes pitched in the semis

Choke on that big meaty Venezuelan dong you insufferable, arrogant, militant losers.  The baseball gods know exactly how to police this.  Nobody deserves to lose this title on home soil more.

You realize that there are Americans on this site that support the Jays and many things Canadian.  Both countries have issues.   The Blue Jays are a global team, not team Canada.

An interesting proposal was floated that the do pool games during spring training time and then save the playoffs for the week of All Star break.  The baseball and players available could be much better.    The limitations teams out on their players are annoying.

Without thinking about it too much I kind of like that.

Sure, but he easily could have pitched the quarter or semi and they could’ve moved other guys back/forward a day to accommodate.

He pitched a spring training game the 1 day in betweenthe QF against Canada and the Semi against DR.

Yamamoto pitched the QF because Japan knew that was a tougher matchup than facing one of Italy/PR in the semis.

Skubal easily could have pitched one of those games if he wanted to, don’t make excuses for him. It was a half-assed lame attempt to pretend he cared.

Dang. Win one Olympic hockey game and you have spun out of control.  It's really OK.  in general, we really don't care about hockey very much

This thread is becoming a little bit to much Canada vs America for me all of a sudden. Clearly the Americans on the board don’t really care about the politics and are just Jays fans for whatever reason it happened.

Its just a little too much.

Meh, it's a thread on a Blue Jays forum about the WBC - it was always going to be pro-Canada. And its also a reflection of the way team USA carried themselves. It will die within a couple of days.

There’s a reason pretty much everyone that isn’t American wanted US to lose, its not just a sentiment found on this message board. Team was cringy af and completely tone-deaf to current world issues.
