Bregman and Bellinger are much better fits and go with the FO ideology of defense/versatility. Honestly the only reason Bo is being considered at all is because he’s a fan favorite and we know what we have with him. Tucker and Bellinger are the best fits, with Bregman next and Bo a clear 4th.

And he’d get a defensive replacement most games you’d think. But yeah outfield looks way better with Bellinger or Tucker out there vs Barger every day. Though Barger is probably platooned anyways. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Santander is the one that sticks out like a sore thumb now He'd better hi 40+ bombs this year
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 When they signed Santander they must have assumed Springer would still be playing outfield regularly in 2025 and 2026.

No. I didn't even tie those 2 together, f*** Bregman. Unless we sign him.

That said, if he somehow has another terrible year, that signing definitely looks bad and you have to think about dumping him. Can't be 0 glove without a good bat. Spanky__99 1

Good chance we don’t have to worry about it All these guys have warts and worries. Might be a little careless or Padres esque to add two high profile bats on top of what they’ve committed already Who knows tho, Ed Rogers might be fed up with finishing second to the Dodgers in the Ohtani deal and the WS that he’s ready to say fück it we can spend right along with ya Stangstag, Spanky__99 and THANOS 3

Santander is just a liability defensively, and there are other teams where he would be a better fit. I am confident that Barger will hold his own in right field with his arm. But I cannot see the Jays brass signing off on an outfield where Barger and Santander both start.

I think if Springer has a proper offseason to rest, he can still play half his games in one of the corner outfield spots. This would open up DH games foe anyone carrying an injury.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Springer and Taters are about the same in the field now. Springer is just old and his range is falling off a cliff and Taters was never quite as bad as people think. His range has been 29th to 38th percentile the past three years; that's not someone that needs to full-time DH. BUT, Taters suffers a DH penalty where his stats are worse when he DHs than when he is in the field and Springer is one of the few players who seemingly gets a DH boost. So all things considered, you want Taters in the field and Springer at DH. Brownie19, Spanky__99, Stangstag and 5 others 8
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 I'm going to miss Springer so much when he's gone. I know the Jays didn't draft him and he hasn't been on the team quite as long as Vladdy and Bo. But he feels like as much the heart and soul of the team as they do. GoBlue41, Spanky__99 and Funky 2 1

This dude does not like to DH apparently. If Springer is still good in 2026 then might as well try to bring him back if performance/vibes are still strong. Sticking Tony at DH in 2027 might not be the best plan.

I'd love to see Springer finish his career in Toronto on a bunch of 1 year deals ala David Ortiz. You probably have to move Santander to make that happen though... Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Springer's issue is his knees. He shouldn't see the OF except on an emergency basis Spanky__99 1

Pretty sure his main injury was an undisclosed wrist/hand problem. You could see in the way he swung, his follow-through was completely different for most of the year. Or maybe it was shoulder. Would make sense why he didn’t see the outfield much with a wrist/shoulder injury.
