I hope this works out.  I do like having different angles and stuff, but I have a hard time giving 3 years $39M to a guy who's 35 and throws 82 MPH.

Suarez for $6M more seems like better value/upside.

The numbers speak for themselves honestly. It’s unorthodox in every way, but Rogers gets the job done as well as anyone else.

By RA9-WAR he’s arguably the best non Diaz option available in FA.

They acquired another sidearm guy earlier today in Lee, was a good depth move.

Yea I like that move as well 2 options and plenty of control. Will probably be up and down all year

I get your rationale, but maybe Saurez preferred to go to Atlanta. Sometimes we don't get our man.

something doesn't feel right about this signing but I hope I'm totally wrong and it works out

It’s expensive but this is what happens when the top options go and the market scrambles to pick up the best remaining options. He is very very good though just isn’t as sexy because he doesn’t throw 98

Seriously, Rogers 37m or Suarez 45m? Atkins probably tried to sign Suarez at discount, this didn't worked, and in panic he overpaid for Rogers. We f***ing still need a #1 closer, no Swanson replacement

Rogers is better but he’s discriminated against because he’s a submariner.

Jay’s cornering the market on them. Acquired 2 in one day! Although Lee is not quite from down under

Ross Atkins has added 3 starting pitchers and 2 relievers before Cashman can even get out of his sleeping bag

They still are considered the favourites for Imai. And if they bring back Bellinger I would say they had a good off-season. Hopefully they aren’t in on Tucker. Feels like it’s between us and the Dodgers again.

Lmao wtf

Okay uhhh

Wtf dude

How much?

You can't do stuff like this and then NOT at least sign Bo

Atkins probably has FU money to spend this winter if Rogers at $12M+ AAV was added before the big FAs came off the board.

Atkins moves typically come out of no where (see Cease, Ponce, and now Rogers), so the fact that they are so specifically linked to Tucker makes me think they'll end up signing Bo.

I was hoping for a few more K's out of whoever we signed but I'm just imagining what it will look like when he comes in after Yesavage.

I'm guessing it's Bruihl DFA'd to make room? I've never seen a pitching staff this deep in Toronto. It's insane:

  • Hoffman
  • Varland
  • Rogers
  • Garcia (if healthy)
  • Nance (no options)
  • Lauer
  • Berrios

Are probably locks if healthy. Then you have Miles who was picked in the Rule V. Bruihl is out of options. Then in AAA you have:

Fluharty, Little, Fisher, Tiedemann etc...

Like, the AAA crew is better than some teams' MLB pen.

They can flip an arm or two for actual prospects if they want, because they don't actually have room for all of the pitching.

I'm kind of OK not getting an "elite closer" when we have all those intriguing options. I feel like a couple of those guys will establish themselves as perfectly  "closer capable".

Theres still time but that’s a lot of “ifs”

If they like him, I like him!! If it's their money and not my own, I like him! If this doesn't prevent the team from going after more studs, I like him!! Good pickup tonight. This was just a sparkler. Maybe the big fireworks will be this weekend!

Yea it’s exciting. It’s a really strong group of relievers. The best pitching depth that I can personally remember.
