Stuff+ has the hardest time with changeups

There are poorly graded changeups that are very effective because the pitcher has great feel and command of them and can sequence reliably

And then there are Cease changeups that grade well on movement etc. but that are just slop in games because he can't find any feel or command so he can't get results with them. Or they don't complement his other pitches.

I feel like getting him to find a reliable sinker or cutter is the path of least resistance because it SHOULD in theory be easier to incorporate and these are command focused pitches so if he can find one he is willing to throw even 12% of the time it might help with his Strike%

I dunno! We will see

Yea, i think i agree with sliderguy in that we aren't the kind of org that changes pitches that much. But even his existing sinker and curve used a bit more and sequenced better could help.

Not me. I don’t do well with change and I’d  rather discuss how Bo is gone as the jays foolishly checked in on Marte

If the Jays look elsewhere for a 2B, this probably means Bo still have knee problems and this is a concern. We need him to play 2B daily no DH, and he should feel comfortable when running. If we look elsewhere for a 2B, better call the Tigers and see if Gleyber Torres available.

Nothing wrong with a vlad, Clement, Andres, barger infield.  No pressing need to add a 2b.

Tucker or Bellinger for the OF if Bo is out.

The Jays need a controllable outfielder more than an infielder. Varsho is a pending FA, Springer is a DH + a FA, and Santander is a DH who has to play the OF out of necessity (will move to DH in 2027). Whether it's Tucker or someone else, the Jays should probably add an outfielder with some control this winter. That feels like a bigger need than 2B.

Whoops, quoted the wrong guy. Meant to quote glory.

I tend to agree, but things can change pretty quick on that front if a guy like RJ Schreck bursts onto the scene in 2026 the same way Barger did in 2025.

One lesson to be learned with the Cease signing is that when they say, Where there's smoke, there is fire isn't true. Sometimes smoke is just smoke. Atkins and co keep their cards pretty close. The tweets about who they met with and talked to don't mean a hill of beans. No one had reports of them talking to Cease but here we are.

I feel Cease has been on the Jays radar for years. There was rumours they were trying to trade for him at the deadline before the Padres decided not to sell.

It’s why I’m not sure the Tucker stuff has any merit to it. Atkins usually does work in silence.

Yeah, but Bo's signing here. Trust.

Breakdown of Cease's salary per Heyman:

Cease gets a $23MM signing bonus and then a $22MM salary in 2026. His salary then jumps to $30MM in 2027 and falls by $1MM in each subsequent season. $10MM of his 2026 salary is deferred followed by $9MM in each season after that. The deal also contains awards bonuses and a limited no-trade clause.
