You’d have to think that this played a part mentally. IKF also got doubled up on s line drive recently in the playoffs, maybe against Seattle can’t remember.

They got too scared on the bases unfortunately.

Yup too scared and it cost them. Everything that went right for them all season went wrong for them in the last two games that mattered the most.

This is ridiculous man. Atkins literally acquired every single one of these players outside of Vlad, and as the long term GM was involved in establishing the team culture and hiring the coaching staff that allowed the team to discover the key to unlocking post season success. If Atkins gets no credit for this improbable but impressive post season run and the players get all of the credit, then I guess prior to this season the players get all of the blame and Atkins gets no blame either, he just sort of exists in some sort of alternate plane where the general manager has no impact on a team's fortunes. If ever there was an opportunity to showcase that your brain still possesses even an inkling of neural plasticity and is still capable of learning this was it, and you just failed completely.

I think it's hilarious there is still one idiot left running around calling for Atkins head after the season we just witnessed.

And it's not just the one season. This team has been in the post season 4 of 6 seasons now and as many of us have said, the GMs job is to build a team/core that can get in multiple times over a 5 to 10 year period and hope that they have everything go right in at least one of those playoff appearances and win it all. They were literally one inch away from doing it this time.

And most of this team is set to return, this probably won't be their last crack at winning it all.

Atkins is responsible for the team with BY FAR the best winning percentage by decades in team history. And yes, I realize they spend a lot of money, but so do the Yankees and Red Sox plus we've also got the pesky ass Rays in this division too.

He's done a fantastic job overall.

Ive felt its long overdue that in order to create a social media account, you need to be verified based on some form of government details.  People need to be held accountable for the trash they throw at other people when it comes to threats and other stuff they wouldn't have the balls to do in person.

I don't think that would make much of a difference unfortunately.

Would have been so much better for Max to just get shelled for 4 in the first inning, then go down 5-6 runs and lose 6-2.  On paper dodgers should have won it anyway with the pitching outlooks.
 

Also surprised eric Lauer didn’t go for extra innings.  He was great last time out.

 

maybe the next Japanese superstar does what ohtani originally did and try to make his own legacy like he was trying to do with the angels.

Yep. The reason this feels so bad for us is that we know that game was easily winnable. We had the winning run 90 feet away multiple times, with less than 2 outs. And we were winning in the 9th.

Such a gut punch.

All the things that had to go right for us to get to this point, a game that was completely winnable. Hitting with runners in scoring position was such a massive strength for us and it completely dried up the last couple of days. The lights got too bright for some of them. They were basically blinding Varsho.

Dodgers played like s*** in this world series, and they still f***ing win. They still somehow managed to be just clutch enough to crawl over the finish line.

I do agree now that we will never get a chance like this again.  Ever.  Team not expected to do anything.  Win division against Yankees, beat Yankees in playoffs,  7 game ALCS win at home.  World Series win at home against Dodgers.  End story book season.

Pretty unlikely you ever get this good of a setup again.  Like even if they win the World Series in the next decade it will be with some boring 200+ run differential team that wins it in 5 in San Diego or somewhere.  

So many great moments that led to some bad moments.  Could have avoided the bad by not having the good occur.  

Hopefully most of us are still here when they win 5-1 in San Diego on a Wednesday October night (not November,  but maybe it will be St. Louis or Atlanta, or San Francisco).

I just wish we would have stayed with our regular relievers that got us here and got us the win in that bullpen game with the Yankees. I don't think our starters are they type to come in and blow people away for a couple of innings. We changed the formula and put people in positions they weren't accustomed to. I don't think the pen was particularly gassed for that game to warrant it.

Yup. They were very good at executing those runner on 3rd situations all year long, and for games 6 and 7 they just didn't do it.

I watched that Mariners/Tigers game 5 and saw all the stranded baserunners, and I thought to myself "the Jays would have won this game 5 innings ago"

Jays ended up looking just as bad as both of those teams in that game.

Even Muncy’s and Vlad’s flyout to CF are almost identical in terms of launch angle, exit velo, and distance.

If Vlad manages to swing the bat .01 seconds earlier we get a walkoff homerun.

Statcast is definitely not God's truth. It's not uncommon for it to be off by 10-20 feet. Remember that supposed 505 foot home run by Rowdy Tellez a while back?
