Another fun possibility is that the Yankees have their game rained out tonight. Would mean they would have to play the makeup on Monday after the final day of the season.... which could put us in an even worse spot if we can't clinch on Sunday.

It may come down to us praying the Yanks lose a makeup game on Monday afternoon. Fun times.

Agreed but his batting average has dropped about 100 points in the last week so maybe it's best to get him a day off now and then make him play the final 3 games

I seriously doubt that given the stakes at this point. I don't recall a player being benched by this manager for lack of hustle at any point of his tenure and this would be an odd time to start.

Vlad!!??  He's the biggest Betty Crocker on the team right now.  What's the plan for him?  Tell the pitcher to be ready to field a dribbler?  He better step up and quick!

Yankees are due for a loss, we're due for a win. Why on earth Varland of all people is the opener I will never know, but this is John Schneider we're talking about so we'll have to find a way to win in spite of him.

Varland has looked quite a bit better in recent outings and gives the club a bit of a chance for length as an opener.

Yeah Varland is a good choice.

He's good (despite the struggles he's been better recently) and can go two innings no problem. I would expect that they try and get two innings out of Lauer as well.

There is no way hes being benched today and then plays an afternoon game on Saturday after an evening game on Friday.  Hes definitely missing 1 game against Tampa too.

Yeahhhh. If he was gonna have a rest day it should have been Friday. We just had an offday Monday lol.

Ya... Jays need to go down with their best and Kirk is certainly one of their best.  Just bat him lower in the lineup today considering how important today's game is.  Such a stupid decision imo.

Playing Santander in LF is a massive mistake. He plummets the defense. He can't be anything other than a DH or PH.
