BatFlip Verified Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Lets go Jays! Magic number now (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we have the season tie breaker vs yanks or sox):

glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 John Schneider having to write "Davis Schneider" in the lineup card had to be one of the most difficult things he's ever done. BatFlip 1

Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Schneider has his reasons for disliking Davis Schneider. So why is Davis Schneider starting. ? Once the manager likes you are his favourite no matter what. Lopefido is his favorite.

Laika Community Moderator Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 So in the playoffs the thing other teams should do against Toronto is just surprise them and throw their SP5 for game 1. They'll have no idea what to do with 90 poo. Jason Alexander is 33% changeups and 40% 90mph sinkers I understand that the changeup is good and maybe his command was on but realllllly all they had to do was sit on one pitch or the other the entire AB and swing for the fences Javier should at least be a more standard PA with his average velo fastball so hopefully Vlad doesn't let 12 horrendous swings loose like last night

The bigger question is: What if he's perfectly healthy but doesn't get his groove back? Do you leave a bat like that off the postseason roster? Do you leave him out of the starting lineup?

When you have studs like IKF and Loperfido, there's no need to waste a roster spot on a bum like Tony Taters. Omar and BatFlip 2

In that scenario, I would probably add him to the pile of bench pieces like IKF, France, Straw, etc. and play him when the situation calls for it. I suppose if everyone is healthy someone will be left off though. Loperfido is an easy demotion but we also will have Bo coming back. If Taters looks totally clueless at the plate then maybe he is the guy who is left off.

I hope and pray that IKF would be the odd man out but then the manager seems to be completely infatuated with the guy based on the best 4 month sample of his career that happened in a Blue Jays uniform a year ago. That was the danger in Atkins picking this guy up. Meanwhile J. Schneider treating D. Schneider like a red-headed stepchild.

Yeah I can see the argument to dump IKF but he's not the worst bench player in the world. He's a pretty decent one actually as he has some good bench skills (defense, baserunning) and projects for about 1.5 WAR per 150 games.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 I also wonder if the Jays are working under some interesting theories regarding their pinch hitters. Pinch hitting is hard and it seems like most players take a big hit in production when they do it. It might make sense to use batters who can simply put the ball in play and try to get some BABIP luck. Maybe that's why the Jays pinch hit with IKF, Straw, France, etc. since they don't strike out much. SSS alert (always will be when it comes to pinch hitting), but: IKF has a 134 wRC+ in 30 pinch hit plate appearances Schneider has a 27 wRC+ in 32 PAs BatFlip and max silver 2

This team desperately needs his long ball threat come playoff time. The ability to change a game with 1 swing is too important. Springer will be fine in the OF and just let him DH.

Yeah I doubt JS would intentionally bury someone on the bench that the FO actually wants to see play. For some reason they are telling JS to prioritize IKF and others over DS. What that reason is or could be is anyone's guess.
