glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Jays now have the best record in the AL again. Lol. What a roller coaster ride. Stangstag 1
BB17 Verified Member Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 I thought the jays game ops was bad but that music in between pitches in the 9th was next level bad. Super loud and completely zaps the atmosphere out of the moment in the game. Terminator 1

Almost every single catcher in MLB uses the 1 knee down approach and there is all kinds of data to back it up. It's being taught throughout the game by everyone. Buck doesn't like anything that's different from when he played and always voices his displeasure about it. Spanky__99 1

You should adjust your stances based on the situation in the game, especially when there was already a wild pitch a few batters before.

They managed to f*** up the entire bullpen with their over usage and are turning Berrios/Lauer into useless pieces. Berrios has sucked balls since July - well before they acquired Bieber.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 many catchers set-up with a knee down regardless of the situation, it's a comfort thing; better target, a little easier to frame pitches. Mobility and pop up times take a hit though. Guess most teams are ok with it. Spanky__99 1

Anyways, I think its fine to have different viewpoints on this as there are a lot of factors to consider. Stangstag 1

It's like a pitcher that's slow to the plate with runners on - and refuses to change..... Jays24 1
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 watching yankees at houston right now and both Wells and Diaz are almost sitting down lol even with runners on
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Berrios had a Stuff+ of 77 coming into tonight’s game. I’m not sure how much longer he can be an ~4 ERA innings eater at this rate without some type of drastic change.

Do any MLB catchers actually change their stance and revert back to a standard catching position with runners on 3rd? I can't say I've noticed anyone who does. In this case the catcher got his entire glove on the ball. He just missed it.

IKF f***ing sucks, there was no reason to bring him back, and put him on the hot corner no less. They seem to get a hardon for certain players like IKF, Straw, Zimmer, etc. and then go all tunnel vision on them.
