It's easy to trust the team on giving up Stephen.

They've moved Hoglund, SWR, etc. and don't regret moving any of them. Stephen probably maxes out at as an SP4.

I agree. I watched Stephen pitch in Dunedin and was not impressed and I trust the management knows a lot more than me.

Well slap my ass and call me Sally, Jays got a TOR starter, price is steep, but it always was going to be for an arm like his, risk reward is there, sure... but an extension certainly wouldn't be out of the question either. I'm really glad they made this move, FLAGS FLY FOREVER!!!

This is a tremendous acquisition. Bieber is one of the few arms available who has ace upside. This team is 4 games ahead in the division, and will be playing playoff games and Bieber is the kind of guy who can win you playoff games.

Worth the risk all day buddy, twice on Sundays. 😎

Agreed, Sally.

That's a lot for 6 weeks of Bieber but that's the price you pay for an SP1 come playoff time.

Bieber and Gausman form a solid 1-2 punch to go along with our defense, lineup and bullpen (I assume we'll add another reliever). That team can make some noise.

This is similar to the David Cone acquisition.

Doubt they'd have to even go that high he might be more of a 4/$80 dude

That would be great. But I don't know about that...

If everyone stays healthy and nobody is traded, I wonder if they just go with a 6 man rotation from here on.

I believe so, with Max and Gausman getting extra rest it's really a no brainer at this point.

Extend him now because if he's really back then he's opting out and we're f***ed.

Crazy part is that we need him to be good enough down the stretch where he opts out after the year.  If he opts in then that means he didnt deliver this season.

Very risky move for a team looking for certainty.  They must be 100% sold on his rehab so I cant wait to see him with the big club.

Uhmm... it's a risk reward deal, reminds me of Cone... how do we get f***ed here Mike? Flags Fly Forever, fellas!

Two different takes, where if he opts in it's great if he scuffles a bit coming back, 16M for a TOR guy 6+ months away from injury and he comes back and shoves in '26 for cheap.

See what I did there? lol

One top prospect for 2 bierber's start

Well if those starts are playoff starts that win us the ALCS I'm in.

Nah. If he's good enough the rest of the season to make opting out his best option, then our chances this season just went up quite a bit. It'll mean he's pitching like an ace or top of the rotation starter.

Then if he walks we are in exactly the same position we were going to be in next year anyways but without Khal Stephen. So, not really that different, and I'd hardly call that f***ed.

Hyperbole.

I'm happy as hell with the move because there was no other starting pitcher available to do what Bieber can do.

I am obviously trusting he'll be 100% healthy and ready to contribute to the big league team very soon.  Atkins pretty much just said this so let's hope and pray it stays that way.

For all those people complaining about the price of this deal, what do you think Bieber would cost if he was currently healthy and performing at Bieber level?

This is exactly the kind of high risk, raise the ceiling, type move we needed out of Atkins.  We are going for it this year and we are a big market team that can spend in the off-season.  We don't need another Berrios 2.0, we need a big swinging d--k like Bieber.

Let's goooooo!

This... sooooooo this!

You need Ativan... just sayin'? Jays have money to do anything they want shortly with great depth, the team HAS gotten far better aside from '24.
