If he dives to make the catch he scores easily on that, people are blaming the tag up, the tag up wasn't the problem it's what he did at the end that was the problem.

Win or lose, Gausman went toe to toe with Skubal. Good sign.

Jays terrible baserunning is not a good sign, but expected with Vladdy. Springer a bit more surprising.

On Springer .....you most likely aren't scoring anyway on a short fly to center so no need to tag up.  Would have scored.

Bad baserunning by Gleyber there too, he should've been at 2b when Barger dropped that fly had he been running hard out of the box

Disagree... it was both tagging up with the ball 15 feet away from 2B and not hustling after you see the ball land.  The hardest play was for the runner going to 2B and somehow only Springer thought tagging up mattered in that situation.

Springer needs to know he has to bust his ass when the ball dropped so shallow and hes still on 3B.  This is 100% on Springer... just own it and we move on.

If he has to dive to make that catch, George just proved he could have scored on the tag-up play cuz he basically did tag up right there and the center fielder wouldn't have got him had he run through and slid, you add in the extra split second it takes to get up and get set after a diving catch, he absolutely would have made it.

 Remember when etiquette dictated that if you had seats behind home plate you wouldn't get up during ab's and wait until the out before being seated?  It's a free for all behind there.

If that ball is caught that shallow with momentum running in, any outfielder is throwing out any runner on a tag, so why bother tagging up? Yeah the Detroit outfielders don't throw well but c'mon. 

That whole scenario is on Springer. Just like when he was jumping up and down on third before time being called and was tagged out. Can't have this s*** in the playoffs.

that can't be the default scenario though, hard to make a call based on a fielder making an amazing catch.

The only way that ball is caught on is on a dive. Then he's safe at the plate. He absolutely made the right call.

Well it dropped in and he should have scored anyway but that's his own idiocy. That was an easy run either way whether it drops in or whether it's an amazing catch. You expect the center field to at least try to make an amazing catch there if it's close enough. People are over analyzing this, that should have been a run either way, If the guy makes a great catch and George scores on the tag we credit him with great base running. He shouldn't have looked up and slowed down. That's what cost them the run.

Then it drops in and he scores easily, he would have scored had he not looked up and slowed down that's the only reason he didn't score. He made the right play but he did a stupid thing at the end that's all.
