Got a feeling the Jays are going to add a piece that no ones talking about with long term control.  This isnt 2015 where we knew the team had like a few years left of true contention, we should be expecting prolonged success here.  I'd be shocked if we added any rental type unless it came at a super cheap price (doubtful).

I dunno man. They have some pitching prospects, finally, but the rotation still looks like a short term window thing.

They could justify rentals or long term adds.

I have a strong feeling that it will be someone no one is talking about as well and I expect them to be aggressive and bold. Not entirely sure if they will do rentals or long term control.

if we're talking speculative pieces with years of control that nobody's talking about, the name that comes to my mind is pablo lopez on the twins.

he's currently rehabbing from a shoulder strain but has 2 years of control after this season ($21M APY) & is a legitimate #1 when he's pitching. with the jays current starter depth, they wouldn't have to rush his rehab & be able to get a top of the line guy once he's back in action.

not to mention all the stuff that's being floated about the blue jays' "financial muscle" + the twins wanting to shed payroll b/c of their TV deal, it just seems like something that would work for both sides.

Sounds like the Nats may be willing to listen on Gore. This should be the target if we're looking to add a starter, IMO. Young stud top of the rotation lefty with 2.5 years of control. Obviously it'll cost, but we could definitely use some long-term certainty in the rotation.

I'd like to see us target Raisel Iglesias. The combination of high salary and poor ERA should make him somewhat cheaper, but he's still getting punchouts and throwing 95.

Could be too high of a risk with Iglesias (is he washed as a 35 year old?).  For strictly a rental with an expiring contract he would have to come cheap; otherwise it would be a no for me.

It sounds crazy given where each of them were at in April, but with each passing week Scherzer and Lauer continue to solidify themselves as possible playoff starters.

A lot of you have been out on the Sandy's, Gallen's, Keller's for a while but I think I'm there as well as they aren't big enough improvements over the guys we have.

We really need Joe Ryan or Gore or someone like that who can be the playoff ace for us.

Great season so far. Entertaining with all the balls in play. Interested to see what Atkins does by Thursday. Thinking a couple additions at affordable prices given Atkins’ track record. Also hoping Shapiro and company stick around long term.

There goes a couple of high end prospects for them. Disappointing for D-Backs fans.

and that's going to be a blown save for Duran, hitting 101, RBI single off that pitch though

EDIT: it was tied when he came in, gave up the go-ahead run

People around here are going to be outraged when our newly acquired closer isn’t actually 100% perfect every outing.

People don't realize that even the Great Mo Rivera only had a 89% save rate...interestingly enough, the same rate Romano had with the Jays.

someone tell MLBTR that they really don't need to post every "Team X interested in Player Y" rumour

But they have no actual trades to write about so .......

Yeah but that could be to replace Loperfido who may have broken his arm/wrist today

What would it take to get 2.5 years of Duran? Does Nimalla and Jimmy King get it done or would the Twins want pretty much MLB ready types? Yesavage and Roden/Loperfido maybe? I'm just spit balling..

Honestly I can't believe how few trades have actually happened

Will be bunch tonight I'm sure but still...

Still so many fringe teams are undecided on whether to sell or not. Either other or their asking prices are ridiculous
