Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 You know what's pretty fun? Sweeping the Yankees.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 I am euphoric Weather was great on Canada day. Belly full of pizza, burgers, and Labatt Blue. The Jays came from behind two days in a row to beat Rodon and Fried. Let's keep it going! The gameplan is: give Judge nothing to hit and just wear out the Yankee pitching with competitive plate appearances then do damage against a scrub RP. Today's SP matchup is fairly even. Warren has better K-BB and FIP but Berrios is the crafty veteran who might be better than his tools. Terminator, BatFlip, Spanky__99 and 3 others 5 1

In fact inning for inning, Warren may be their best starting pitcher. Walks are his biggest issue, so yes, patience and grinding out at bats may be key.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 If the Jays sweep the Yankees over these 4 games, that's a huge statement! They will take the AL East Division!

He has been better according to the fancy stats so far this year, but we can't throw out Berrios' multiple year track record of simply limiting runs (really his whole career if you ignore 2022). Somehow he continues to keep that ERA under 4.00 despite not having amazing stuff. Warren has 17 good starts in his career and the ERA is still over 4. Spanky__99 1

Now check RA9 WAR, Berrios is 24th in MLB, that's what Laika means by better than the metrics, it happens a lot. He's our Bulldog, a beast if you will.

That year in '22 was weird, his FB was crushed as it continued to leak in on barrels like no tomorrow, it was frustrating. Command issues for the most part of that year.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 We were -180ish underdogs the past two days. Today we are -125 so the pitching matchup definitely seems more even. I do worry about Berrios' homer prone approach against a good home run team like the Yanks but Berrios has been pretty good against them in his career and has dominated them in TO (2.94 FIP). Their bullpen is more rested than ours and I would expect to see Devin Williams. Yariel and Fisher are probably unavailable today and Hoffman and Little could use another day. It would help if we could get Yimi up for Bruihl.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 If I was any good with computers I would edit Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge's faces on the guys hiding under the bridge and the guy banging the bottles would be George Springer and he'd be saying Yankees not Warriors.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 If we beat the Yankees tonight it's going to be a full blown panic/meltdown from that organization and fanbase. I will be switching to the Yankees broadcast as soon as we take the lead.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 I'm guessing Lukes is banged up, otherwise Wagner at 3B and Schneider in LF against a RHP makes zero sense.
