Francis and Swanson pitching 4 of the 5 innings today and the Jays only being down 3 is probably a miracle. Still a winnable game, but I have no clue how they get through another 3 innings in relief, much less 4 if the offense actually does come back from this.

The Jays are going to have to decide if they want to maximize Lauer's effectiveness or not run the pen into the ground. He can't be a 3 inning bulk guy when Francis is also in the rotation. The pen is on fumes because of that.

This is hard to watch

he's trying to be Gausman FB/Splitter combination and it worked some last season, not anymore.  Gausman 94 avg and Francis is 92.  He needs to change.

Vlad’s defense has undergone a remarkable turnaround this year, he’s got positive OAA on the year

yes with the exception on balls hit directly at him

Francis cannot remain on the roster if this team is serious about competing. Almost an automatic loss when he starts. Move needs to be made

Im in agreement here, I usually don't know where the solution is. Macko might get a chance sooner rather than later and we'll see what he brings i guess... Lucas might get another shot, Turnbull is probably lined up to get at least 1 start but im not exactly trembling in anticipation of that.

Feels like the only real options are trade... or keep cobbling s*** together until Scherzer gets healthy.

I really don't like option 2 since there's no guarantee he doesnt go right back on the shelf after 1 start, and then you're back to patchwork again. The pen can only hold out so long before it just crumbles, regardless of how good they are.

Option 1 seems to be the play, might have to trade from all that MIF depth for a somewhat warm body

I believe that Kloffenstein could be another guy that's given a spot start or two if/when Turnbull flames out in spectacular fashion. He's been up to 70 pitches and 5 innings thrown in his most recent AAA starts. I don't expect his 90 MPH sinkers to light the world on fire but he's been throwing a sweeper more that's generated a lot of swing and miss in his last few starts.
