My one criticism of Atkins and this FO over the last couple of years. Some will disagree with me, but that's alright. It seems like in every season, whether it was 2021 with the bullpen, 2022 with their bench/defense, and 2023 with the lack of power, they neglect certain parts of the roster filling them with waiver claims and minor league invites instead of filling those obvious holes with more reliable options during the offseason.

Ah yes, your singular criticism of the front office you otherwise love

Budgets are a thing

Other than the Dodgers, no team in baseball has a perfect roster

Never said anything about the Jays having to have a perfect roster.

But when you're in the middle of your contending window, you shouldn't be cheaping out on areas that need to be addressed. Whether it was the pen in 2021, or bench/defensive liabilities in 2022 or the lack of power which was evident throughout all of 2023. If those areas were properly addressed in the offseason or during the season rather than keeping the status quo, might have had different results.

You have the exact same criticisms lol.

Barnes took the fall for this loss but I put the blame squarely on Schneider.

Why he didn't put Raleigh on first when he was all fired up after the Berrios argument is beyond me.

Raleigh is the Jays killer, he's left -handed, he had extra motivation.  Arozarena is right-handed and can't hit a beach ball right now.

Was it an ego thing? He wanted to let Berrios get him out?  Did he think he'd put a fastball between his shoulder blades?  Why?!!

It was an obvious decision to hold up 4 fingers there and he decided against it.  That cost them a win.  Barnes sucked but it never should have gotten to that point.

Barnes wasn't even mentioned in the post sequence

Lol you are an actual psychopath just like always. Welcome to the new board, Grant.

Here's the first post of the sequence talking about middle relief (ie. Barnes), just to prove that you are a liar. I await the argument that Barnes isn't middle relief, but some other new classification. My psychopathic trait is responding to all of your lies and incorrect posts over the years, actually expecting you to be realistic for once.Screenshot_20250420-1141242.png.b4953d0318d9214997c0bfc7da2d856e.png

The team had golden chances to win the game in the 9th, 10th and 11th innings. It seems to be missing the plot entirely to blame the worst reliever on the roster for a loss in the 12th inning.

Their version of Barnes is Casey Lawrence. They actually invested in middle relief and that's why they won today. We just left a bunch of empty spots and foolishly filled them with waiver claims and minor league invites instead of believing in this team and filling obvious holes that have now cost us at least 3 games this season.

Umm you might have missed this but Casey Lawrence is terrible? He's a mediocre sub-replacement level arm with a career 6+ ERA.

You're a nutcase.

Barnes tossed 1.2 clean inning on April 4th and had not pitched for a week before that.

In context that series you were crying buckets about the decision to use Little against Soto, and you were slamming Fluharty like a n00b fan who had never heard of him. That is the context.

Have a nice day buddy. Go curling with JaysBlue whydontcha

Tough one to lose and given some of the other losses, feels like we could have 2 or 3 more wins like Grant said. That's baseball though and can't win them all. Jays likely will win some games they had no business of winning over the course of 162 games.

Regardless, will take a 12-9 record so far given where this team was last season. Lets hope they remain consistent, and can be in a good spot come July where they're looking to add!

This.

It was just one of those days where all Schneider could do is use what was available and...the offense couldn't get it done with multiple cracks at walking it off. Eventually, the worst pen arms comes in and shows why he's the low guy on the totem pole and DFA the next day.

Its actually pretty refreshing to see the quick triggers on the DFA so far.

The post in question wasn't about yesterday's game.

Lawrence and Barnes are both 7/8th relievers at best that shouldn't be on a major league roster.

We didn't use Little against Soto. We used Fluharty, who had a FIP over 4 in the minor leagues last year and he blew it.

Every other thing you say is a lie. At least you're consistent about that.

Lovelady sucked and got DFA'd. Barnes sucked and got DFA'd. Fluharty has sucked and would be in AAA if we had any depth. We're calling up mediocre over-30's and  career minor leagues who aren't even good down there.

Myself and many others have been absolutely right about our lack of depth causing issues. Where would we be right now with Justin Wilson and Chris Martin on the roster? Probably with 3 more wins for like 5 million dollars. They tried to sign Soto, the money was there.
