His K% is trending less than half of what it was last year and on top of that his Barrel% is going through the roof vs last year. That is a hell of a doom and gloom combination.

Gausman's missing whiffs is easily my biggest pitching related concern with the Blue Jays this season. It's great that his fastball velo is back to normal but if he can't rediscover the form on the splitter he's more of an innings eater type at this point.

Jays24 will show up at some point to rage away about a likely partial day off for Springer after spending much of spring training raging about how the team simply couldn't afford to play Springer anywhere other than the bottom of the order.

When did I say this?  I said the Jays needed to get him out of the top 4 by adding someone good enough to do so...  it was to signal that the offense needed POWER.

You Shatkins nut huggers will make up anything loll

f***ing Wagner got to have a better approach on that 3-1 pitch. Could have been a called strike but still frusterating.

Why is Springer not in the lineup anyways? Of course he would have been been up with the bases loaded too lol

Is it really hard to DH?

You're right. Three posts and counting already in the first inning on the topic.

Springer would have been on IL trying to make that catch.

To be fair, Lukes didn't have to jump to make that catch.

Modern day management have turned pro athletes weak little pussies.

How many games in a row did Cal Ripken Jr play again?

One thing about the Jays org, especially Schneider, is that they genuflect for veterans. Like they’ll get on their knees and touch a vet’s feet before every game. So if Springer is not in the lineup, then it’s likely a mutually agreed upon move. They are way more likely to bench a red hot young player for no reason.

He’s old and has an injury history. Just a scheduled day off.

5 and counting now.

  • Houck is notoriously difficult on righties and fairly pedestrian against lefties.
  • The odds of Straw getting a hit off Houck is not great. It's a terrible matchup.
  • Springer just had to miss a game for back spasms, he's old, it's freezing cold, and we don't have an off day left on this road trip. It's not ideal but it is what it is.

To add, Lukes isn't that bad. He projects better than Straw does anyway and especially against righties, defense included.

Take a chill pill sir. :)

Is Clement Biggio 2.0 without the good eye?

Clement having a good 2024 was the worst thing that could have happened because he will get a lot of rope this season because of it. I’m not a believer at all. Doesn’t walk, poor stat cast indicators, and will probably play way too much. Hopefully he’s a strict bench guy when Varsho gets back.
