Adding Scherzer to the bottom of the rotation is key. limit his innings so he's good to go for the playoffs

biggest thing he'll bring to this team for me is poise and leadership.

Yeah I think he has an extra gear that Verlander and Morton don't have anymore in that you would be comfortable with him in a playoff rotation.

While I think we should be rebuilding, this contract works either way. It's a one-year contract with no downside. If he sucks it doesn't matter, if he's good it either helps the front offices' playoff ambitions or he's tradable at the deadline.

I don't approve of the direction but I approve of this deal.

Ross has had a good offseason. Yeah he whiffed on Soto and Sasaki, the latter of which was especially rough with the Straw trade factored in.

But he's been patient and it's paid off with Santander and Scherzer.

But he also jumped the market on relievers and got Garcia and Hoffman on deals that make them look like steals when Carlos Estevez who projects for an ERA over 4.00 is getting 2 years 22 million.

I really hope Scherzer is healthy.

Baseball is a sport rooted in history and it's fun having HoFers on your team, even if it's just for a season or two at the end of their careers (as long as they are contributing!).

Probably his best offseason ATM besides maybe 2021 but that was best case scenario outcomes.
