I’ve seen a few rumblings that the Jays and Alonso have a 3 year $80 million deal done as well as the physical being complete. Apparently the hold up is just finalizing signing bonus and deferrals. It

If Alonso doesn't sign with the Jays he's a coward. Steve Cohen is publicly insulting him and the fact he's even still considering the Mets is making me question if we even want him. He's obvious

I'm not too worried about the Rays but you're right in that Atkins definitely gets into showdowns with Free Agents which allows other teams to jump in.

Sometimes it leads to good deals for the team (Santander) and other times it lets other teams swoop in (Burnes).

Hopefully the Polar Bear doesn't find a team willing to pony up for him and he signs with us on a team friendly deal.

Haha ok just wanted to clarify so Postseason is excluded then? 

I'll do that bet with you as well. So Yankees more wins/higher position in standings during regular season. If tied with wins, we'll apply the MLB tiebreak rules, if you're good with that.

Yeah man, if they were to tie in W's it goes to their H2H record.

For sure but it's not like there are teams beating down his door to make a much better offer.  I'm baffled by the small numbers being presented at this stage. 

Teams are undervaluing what it means to have a solidified number 3/4 hitter on your team.  The Jays did it with Teo and now the Mets will regret it with Pete if he leaves.

Sounds like Alonso/Boras want an opt out after year 1, or potentially opt outs after each of the first couple years.

I can totally see why a front office would be against that.

This isn’t the 90’s. Teams will know to factor in the AAA park into his stats. If anything it might hurt his rebuild value. He’d have to put up video game numbers.

Didn't seem to hurt Semien's contract or Vlads MVP votes where he would have won if not for Ohtani in 2021.

Is there statcast in the park?  I think it is concerning statcast numbers that have cost him.

Semien hit just as good away as he did at home. And only partial of the home games were played in Buffalo.
