Santander Said He's "interested" In Joining Jays But "Just A Little Off" On Terms

As has been reported previously, the Blue Jays made a formal offer to outfielder Anthony Santander. Details of the deal are not known but Santander was seeking five years earlier in the offseason while fellow corner outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, a similar player in many ways, signed in Los Angeles for only three seasons.

How much are the Jays and Santander off? Hard to say but it wouldn't be surprising to find out that the disagreement is over years more than dollars per year.

Come on man it's the same thing every year from that front office. They always put their eggs in one basket, make a sub par offer, the player signs elsewhere, then they sign a few scraps last minute. You can call me a "ray of sunshine" but I"m not wrong.

Exactly what I was thinking. All i’ve seen from him over 3 different threads is how everything sucks.

Right now its “we made a sub par offer”

When we end up signing someone it’ll be “wow can’t believe they overpaid this dude he’s washed”

Or the always handy “well this team still sucks so this signing doesn’t matter”

Shatkins is Shapiro + Atkins.  It's not negative or positive, it's just slang that originated at the on-set of this new FO, when it was unclear whether Shapiro was calling the shots, or whether Atkins was.  It's certainly not used around here nearly as much as it was back in the late 2010's.
