Hopefully Houston can win the series and give us a little bit more buffer in the loss column.

Would be nice if they also got deep into the Yankees bullpen tomorrow.

Now that's what I'm talking about.

How has Christian Javier looked since coming back from TJS?

Didn't he have it about the same time as Manoah?

He wasn't that good before TJS.  2022 was a nice year, but that's really been it.

Incredibly topical article: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/cristian-javier-is-back-but-at-what-cost/

He's throwing more pitches now, but his command is all over the place. He was never a command artist to begin with, but post surgery as with most pitchers it's taking a bit to come back.

I find it interesting that stolen bases seem to be down this year (at least from the top end SB threats).

2024 SBs v. 2025 SBs (to date)

Elly - 67 to 32

Ohtani - 59 to 17 (obviously pitching has had a major impact)

Turang - 50 to 23

JRam - 41 to 36 (he's so consistent)

Jizz - 40 to 26

M.Garcia - 37 to 22

Has anyone heard anything to explain this?  I love SBs myself and I don't like this trend.

It's incredible the uproar Yankee fans are creating because of one borderline call yesterday to end the game against Houston. The team known throughout the annals of baseball of getting borderline calls to go their way are having a bitchfest on social media calling for investigations and roboumps now.  Pathetic.

Maybe focus more of the blame on your two most vaunted high leverage relievers for coughing up 4 walks, one balk and a wild pitch in one inning??

It missed by like an inch.

But yeah given the context and the drama of looking like they were dead in the water and then they suddenly get a three-run shot, that would have brought one of their hottest power hitters to the plate with a chance to win the game in Stanton. Astros were legitimately in trouble.  Almost a great comeback.

Any fanbase would have gone ballistic on that call. There were other controversial calls that had the Yankees' panties in a bunch earlier as well.

I really thought that the disengagement rules and the bigger bases would result in a ridiculous amount of stolen bases. I thought the disengagement rules in particular was actually over-the-top but it's just not happening the way I thought it would. I too am a big proponent of stolen bases and I want to see more if it in the game. But I'm also a dinosaur so maybe the kids just don't care.

Think Boone should throw Devin Williams back out there in close game tonight. Get right back on that horse. Unsung Hero for our Season.

If the Yankees fall behind early I predict another Boone outburst.  Grab the popcorn folks.

Their defense just coughed up back to back errors to let the Astros back in

Hopefully Jays bats see him this upcoming series in high leverage spots haha.

Why does every Yankee have such a punchable face? Insufferable looking lot.

Even Chad Green did and he came from the Yankees. It's definitely a thing.

Can someone help me figure out Colson Montgomery?

2023 (age 21 season) in A and AA - 155 wRC+ with a 1:1 BB/K ratio (both at 19%)

2024 (age 22 season) in AAA - 81 wRC+, BB% of 12, K% of 29

2025 (age 23 season) in AAA - 78 wRC+ BB% of 8 and K% of 33

called up to the majors

123 wRC+, 17 HRs in 50 games with a .220 BABIP

That is one wild ride.  Obviously it seems unsustainable and it looks like he might be a bust after dominating the lower minors...

Hmm, maybe aggressive promotions finally caught up to him in 2024? That doesn't explain why he sucked so bad in the minors in 2025 though.

His xwOBA is 2 points higher than his wOBA so he's not getting lucky really.

His barrel% is super high though. Maybe he's just barrelled a few more balls than he normally will? High launch angle guys like that can see their averages crater if the ball isn't getting out of the park.
