Devers shouldn't get to decide whether or not he plays 1B. Devers was promised that he would play 3B as a condition of his contract extension. This is all on the organization.

Thought he would have started in the minors to begin with, but I guess the Dodgers had no choice with some of the injuries to their rotation.

Writing off Sasaki (who is only 23) already because of a small sample size at the big league level when he likely needed some seasoning in the minors to begin with is a bit pre-mature.

Could it be the ball, maybe? Some guys have trouble initially with the ball. Jays might've dodged a massive bullet.

The projections are really starting to taper off for him too. 4 ERA pitcher who is a 5 and dive is how the projections see him right now.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2025 Posted May 10, 2025 Griffin Canning is actually having a decent season. WTF? Already at 0.7 WAR and 3.39 FIP through 7 starts. I was tarred and feathered during the offseason by some suggesting him as a back-end rotation option.

BTS Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2025 Posted May 10, 2025 The weirdest thing about Sasaki is how bad his stuff his, at least per Stuff+. That's not what we expected. Everyone thought he had MLB ready stuff and command. It wouldn't have been surprising at all if the stuff was great and the command was lacking, but models hate his fatsball and slider.

I remember that. I don't remember any T&F but I could be wrong. I think most thought they needed to aim higher and others thought it would be hard to convince him to sign here knowing he'd be a 6th or 7th starter, coming out of the bullpen. So far he's been great value for the Mets. Will be interesting to see if he can keep it up.
