glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 McAdoo is 22 and killing it in AA. What's the catch?
AMS528 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 This guy has done nothing but hit the ball since getting drafted. Has moved up really quickly since being drafted as well. Third level in two years and hasn't struggled yet.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Not bad if he is just part of the return.
PitaBaby Verified Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Looks like the fire sale isn't quite over yet.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Very solid return. Probably as close to best case scenario as possible for the Jays on the IKF signing.
NiagaraJaysFan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 It will be interesting to see the Jays’ farm system rank after this master class of deadline expiring contracts trades.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Signing IKF to what looked like a bad contract, getting a 2 WAR out of him in half a season, and then trading him for at least a somewhat interesting prospect is a great outcome. Even if McAdoo ends up being nothing it’s still the best case scenario for this signing all the way around.
rydermike Verified Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 When they signed him I was like meh, but dealing him in the first year, basically like we got a free prospect for a couple million for having him for like 4 months
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Not bad if he is just part of the return. You're expecting more in return for what several complained was a horrible FA signing? That's bizarre...this seems like a great trade for the Jays and should get them under the luxury tax threshold.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Jays sending cash also to Pirates.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Was #12 ranked for the Pirates on BA
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Jays sending cash also to Pirates. I'd always rather them do this and get better returns
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 This is an actual prospect. Can't believe how well the IKF contract worked out

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 They were already under the Luxury Tax Threshold after the Kikucki trade yesterday. At anyone's best guess... yes. We didn't really know that for sure. Given today's trades I would be floored if they weren't under it comfortably now.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Not bad if he is just part of the return. You do realize this is IKF we traded right? Not Vladdy...

But still just a pretty well educated guess. There's all kinds of little things that the sites are never fully aware of.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 McAdoo went 2 for 4 of Skenes in college. He's got to be decent.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Was #12 ranked for the Pirates on BA How is there such a discrepancy between BA and Fangraphs? He was not even in the top 40 Pirates prospects in June of this year according to Fangraphs. I heard he was now rated 29th in their system. BA has him #12???
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 This is an actual prospect. Can't believe how well the IKF contract worked out Agreed Cause he's not playing this well again next year. We all know it.

Fangraphs won't be updated till year end, that's the difference, it's essentially 1 guy, friendo. Free content is slow, yet still very good in Fangraphs case.

Ok, but the farm system update was posted June 19th. So under a month and half, that much change in the overall assessment by the industry?

He was not even in the top 40 Pirates prospects in June of this year according to Fangraphs. I heard he was now rated 29th in their system. BA has him #12??? Well he was an honorable mention by Fangraphs on June 19 but he was 22 in A+. Since then he has been promoted to AA which is a big jump and has continued to rake in over 100 ABs. Not seeing where they rank him 29th now but the difference between 29th and 12 could be as small as moving someone from 40 to 45. And smacking around AA pitching after a promotion would be enough to move someone up that small bit.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 You do realize this is IKF we traded right? Not Vladdy... I am thrilled with the return. The Mayo tweet said part of the return so thought there might be more.
