Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Useless ass Springer man. 1 f***ing sac fly could have done the job at least
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 f*** you Springer. Kirk and Vlad at least had great swings.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 That Springer AB killed that inning. Absolutely brutal season for him.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 That Springer AB killed that inning. Absolutely brutal season for him. Bat that scrub 9th to send him more messages.

infinitebook Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 kirk and vlad hit it a combined 781 feet
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Bat that scrub 9th to send him more messages. He kinda deserves to be benched at this point. In all likelihood Barger would provide the same value with way more upside

The rest of the turds had plenty of bad luck too as the hardest hit balls largely found their way into gloves. That's baseball some times when luck doesn't go your way at the plate. Exit Velo/xBA/result Kirk 105.4/.640/lineout Kirk 100.5/.610/sac fly IKF 100.9/.560/lineout Springer 110.0/.890/lineout Vlad 98.6/.390/lineout

RobinThicc Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Keep KK on the IL, play Springer less. Barger gotta be better than Springer at the plate.
John Balkabella Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Got to hand it to you max. Enjoy the xWorld Series. It was one f***ing hit other than those guys. Couple of liners to short and some fly balls that never had a chance. You know like what every other team has. Except the good ones can put some hits together.
BatFlip Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Keep KK on the IL, play Springer less. Barger gotta be better than Springer at the plate. Yup. At some point they'll have to limit the damage that Springer is inflicting on the offense. Maybe he'll finally get hot in the second half, but man... I wouldn't bet on it.

Couple of liners to short and some fly balls that never had a chance. You know like what every other team has. Except the good ones can put some hits together. Players can't control where the ball goes when it comes off of the bat. They can only control taking a good swing and making effective contact. Plenty of the time the hits simply don't drop in despite doing everything right and hitting the ball well. Baseball is a very luck driven sport sometimes, and today had a bit of bad luck on batted balls mixed in with some questionable managerial moves (not pinch hitting for Springer), some misplays in the field (Kirk throwing through on a steal with a runner on third) and some leaky relief pitching.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Yes, it says that the team is just not good enough
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 "f*** this bullpen And offense" - Chris Bassitt So pretty much this then....
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Yes, it says that the team is just not good enough We need offensive upgrades in about 3 lineup spots in order to be good enough
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Just bad luck again. Go get em tomorrow team!!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 We need offensive upgrades in about 3 lineup spots in order to be good enough Barger, Orelvis Martinez, and Roden are probably upgrades on Springer, Turner and Kiermaier... Just based on how Horwitz and Schneider are translating...

I think the three of those combined might hit .230, but with a bit of power and on base, which would them above the other three hitting .210 combined with no power.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Author Posted June 12, 2024 Missed the game but just checking the highlights...... on Kirk throwing threw with runners on 1st and 3rd and less than 2 out it looked like the Jays read the play correctly and IKF came in to take the through and try and cut down the runner at home.... but kirk threw it away
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Just bad luck again. Go get em tomorrow team!! We have an off day tomorrow

Like come on, you can’t make a single argument for Springer playing every day at this point besides the fact he’s one of the highest paid players on the team. If Springer was on a 1 yr deal he’d be riding the pine way more often like Turner now is

If Springer was on a 1 yr deal he’d be riding the pine way more often like Turner now is Yeah in the winter I said the only way Atkins' off season makes sense is if he's preparing for an upper minors youth movement and just wants bodies that he could move around (ex. KK to 4th OF, Turner to platoon player, IKF to UT, etc) to accommodate that. Instead it looks like he's ready to live or (more likely) die with his group of mismatched vetrins, and I don't get it. Springer looks beyond washed and he barely gets off days, much less a reduced role in general. There doesn't appear to be urgency or a plan.
HomeRunHomer Verified Member Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 I'm not sure what promises Shatkins sold Rogers but this surely is not it. Atkins couldn't/can't pivot because it would be essentially admitting he failed to deliver even with a high payroll. But yeah I agree with you guys that they should have just been playing the few prospects they have to see if they got it right from the start. Basically once the Jays struck out on the big free agents this year was lost unless everyone had big career years enough to keep them in it to make deadline moves. Seriously competing was a pipe dream though and now Atkins and the front office are left gaslighting fans and possibly Rogers too that it's all just bad luck and it's not as bad as it looks..to save face I guess.
