Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 Umps knew there was a 1-hour window to play, Royals grounds crew delayed resuming the game through that entire window. Now no way they can finish without screwing tomorrow’s schedule, so its final. That should be the Royals who pay the price... not us. Idiotic man
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 Smells like a whole lot of ********. But let's be honest, we had no chance to come back from a one run deficit.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 it is rumored the amish kid is the crew lead
spats Verified Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 That should be the Royals who pay the price... not us. Idiotic man If the Jays had any semblance of an offence, they wouldn't be in this mess. Score some f***ing runs.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Losing 3/4 to the Royals is f***ing embarrassing. This series you will look back at it September and regret.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Crazy to call a game when the rain has stopped for a few hours, especially when it's a 1-run game with 4 innings left. Royals have a s*** pen as it is and it was taxed. Now they get the W and a full day's rest for the pen heading into Detroit. Very lucky.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 At least we saved our pen. We're going to need it.
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Sounds like this may not be over just yet.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 At least we saved our pen. We're going to need it. Late innings it'll feel like Betts Ohtani and Freeman are up all the time
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Royals fans online are apparently convinced that John Schneider is the reason the game only went 5 innings. Umpires wanted to tarp the field earlier but JS said NO! So they continued playing and the rain ruined the field which is why they couldn’t continue the game after. Apparently this is the story the Royals broadcast/media is rolling with.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Continue to be miserable Eeyore, it fits you. Don't bother Spanky. Only a truly sick and depraved individual would name themselves after a disgusting sex act and then log on to a family message board to talk about baseball. You just can't reason with people like this. But don't worry, I have submitted a report to the Canadian Cyber Police who have assured me that they are investigating this individual for numerous sex crimes.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Man the 2009 Jays position player group could have been so elite if the timing with certain players just worked out better. Scutaro - 4.2 WAR Hill - 4 WAR Lind - 3.3 WAR Rolen - 3.1 WAR Overbay - 2 WAR Bautista - 1.8 WAR the next year he would breakout with 54 homers and 6.5 WAR Rios - 0.0 WAR, sandwiched between 5.5 and 3.3 WAR seasons EE - 0.1 WAR, sandwiched between 2.0 WAR seasons and a couple year before his breakout to 4 WAR player Wells - 0.1 WAR, one year before his 3.7 WAR dead cat bounce JPR wasn't as bad as a GM as he's made out to be. Drafting was suspect obviously. During that decade, Yankees and Red Sox dominated that division and only 4 teams in each league made the Postseason. Jays had some good teams with intriguing positional players and pitchers, though never had much luck on their side. For example, they either had offensive stars underperform like Wells or Rios the odd seasons, or had injuries to their rotation like with Marcum, and McGowan. Team looked promising after 2002 when Wells, Hinske, Phelps, and O-Dog all broke out offensively and Halladay became elite. Sucks Hinske and Phelps never became core pieces. There were some fun seasons like 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Never complete teams by any means, always seemed to be missing extra pieces or had some rough luck with injuries or significant underperformances. Wonder if the playoffs were expanded as they were today, would have things went different (e.g. offseason and trade deadline moves). Even in 2009, which was probably one of the worst seasons under his belt, they had some interesting pieces in their position player group break out like Aaron Hill and Adam Lind. Scutaro was a fantastic pick up and Rolen actually was valuable when on the field. Sucks Rios and Wells were awful that season. They had no pitching after Halladay, and lost a huge chunk of their rotation after 2008 when Burnett opted out and both McGowan and Marcum were injured. Funny, was just reading that JPR was only interested in acquiring Josh Roenicke and Zach Stewart from the Reds for Role, but Cincinnati would not accept the trade unless the Blue Jays also took on EE haha.

JPR WAS s***!!! cf
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 JPR WAS s***!!! cf Not really. His drafting wasn't anything great, but he put together some good teams during his tenure, like the 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008 teams. They were a mid-80 win team during those seasons and given how tough the AL East was with the Yankees and Red Sox dominating, and with only one wildcard team, JPR wasn't that bad. As well, if the Postseason was expanded like it is today, who knows what other moves the Jays under JPR make at the deadline or in the offseason. No different than what Atkins has done really during his tenure so far. Not saying JPR was better or amazing, but he wasn't that bad of a GM as made out to be.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 That 2006 team was fun. Lineup was stacked. Sucks they had no pitching outside of Halladay, Burnett and Lilly. Towers and Chacin both sucked and Burnett only made 21 starts. Defensively they were meh. Wonder if the Playoffs were expanded as they were today, maybe Jays make some moves to add at the deadline and sneak into one of the three WC spots. The 2008 team with Halladay and Burnett would have been dangerous in the Postseason. Sucks McGowan and Marcum both got injured. They needed some bats. Offensively that team was a joke. They were running out Shannon Stewart, Brad Wilkerson and Kevin Mench that season.

So now you're comparing JPR to Atkins??? Gotcha... Atkins f*** your girl Sil?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 (edited) So now you're comparing JPR to Atkins??? Gotcha... Atkins f*** your girl Sil? I'm saying the Jays teams in some of those JPR years weren't that much different from the teams Atkins has put on the field. Mid-to-high 80 win teams. Only difference is now we have an expanded Playoffs, so it's much easier making the Postseason now than it was in the 2000's. Maybe those Jays teams in the 2000's add at the deadline and sneak into one of the final WC spots. If Atkins is always praised on here for putting together mid-to-high 80 win teams, then JPR shouldn't receive the hate he gets is all I'm saying. Not arguing who was the better GM. Obviously I would still rank Atkins ahead of JPR when you factor in everything. Edited April 27, 2024 by jaysblue

You're a results guy, you can't just mix up your views to suit your narrative.
