Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Look at the outfielders spinning around. Varsho and KK are like little kids yelling "weeee weeee we're hitting .143 !!!!!!!!" I guess they’re supposed to be crying and hiding their faces in their gloves even if the team wins, thanks in part to their defense I should note.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2024 Author Posted April 16, 2024 The pitching and defense has been incredible Just wait until the offense gets rolling Going to be a hell of a summer
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Not sure I agree. We should have scored 6-7 runs the way Gil was pitching. I watched on gameday at first, and Jays batters were swinging well above the plate but leaving the pitch down the centre. Vlad can't lift the ball to save himself. The hitting is broken. The only guys who seem to be hitting are the ones Mattingly and Martinez didn't get a hold of. Turner was probably left alone as a new veteran and that says something. K.....

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 LMAO just won three in a row, beat the Yankees, pulled to above .500... Enter game thread and it's full of people whining and bitching. Shocking. For anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, this team is built on pitching and defense. Get used to the light offense and winning tight low scoring games unless Vlad/Bo/Springer/Kirk etc finally wake up. Or don't get used to it and be miserable even when we win I guess. Whatever floats yer boats

glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Big win. Would have been a painful loss if the pitching couldn’t hold it considering Gil was essentially trying to give the Jays the game on a silver platter. Being 9-8 with the majority of the offense being s*** isn’t a bad spot to be in. Just have to hope the offense gets hot and pitching/defense remains effective. Getting Gausman back on track as well as getting Romano/Swanson back will help as well.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Mayza seems to be coming around, that's huge for the pen. Richards hasn't pitched in a week now since he finally gave up some runs in his 7th appearance. Hopefully they didn't break him by using him so much early on. Will be good to get Swanson and Romano back, hopefully they are effective right out of the gate.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 So we all agree that Garcia should keep closing even when Romano comes back. Let Romano show he's 100% back in a few outings while giving Garcia a longer runway and then make a decision. Great "problem" to have.

I like Garcia's no nonsense approach, Romano will get it I hope it's a short leash though

They said on the telecast that the staff identified an issue in Mayza's mechanics after the first few games that they've been addressing.
