Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 New year, same trash scouting of the opposing pitcher lmao
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Hitters meeting didn't discuss the changeup
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 New year, same trash scouting of the opposing pitcher lmao And same scrub pitchers destroying us with low/away breaking balls
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Varsho blows....babe should be playing left tonight.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Pathetic ABs against Ronel Blanco.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I dunno man. It's like the Astros saw Francis the day before actually seeing him. Good game prep I guess. And the exact opposite for Toronto It's like they didn't even know Blanco was right handed until today
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Not a good outing for Francis but our lineup is pretty weak. We have too many guys that would usually bat 9th. Any deficit seems too large They're certainly capable, 8 and 9 run games sandwiched between 2 eggs.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 How the Jays have no clue about his changeup should be someone getting fired. All the talk about being more professional this year and they don't even know what the pitcher throws
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 And the exact opposite for Toronto It's like they didn't even know Blanco was right handed until today I don’t understand this. Same s*** as last year. Why do we keep getting dominated by s*** pitchers? Who is doing the game planning for the offense?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Credit to Houston though, Blanco’s scouting report says he’s almost 50% sliders, 40% fastballs and 10% mostly changeups. This game he’s mixed them evenly and the Jays have not adjusted.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 And the exact opposite for Toronto It's like they didn't even know Blanco was right handed until today Same s*** as last year, 5 games in. sucks we gotta wait 80+ games in baseball to find out if it truly is the same or its just sss
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Varsho blows....babe should be playing left tonight. I assume this is just part of the plan for the first couple of weeks to get everyones feet wet, see who does what, and then they will settle the lineup a bit more once they get some games under their belt. .....or Schneider may just be dumb.
Steeljays Verified Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 They're certainly capable, 8 and 9 run games sandwiched between 2 eggs. Understood but this translated the to a .500 team
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Understood but this translated the to a .500 team We'll see, I don't believe so.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Been saying all along this lineup is weak.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Been saying all along this lineup is weak. Yes, we're aware.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Francis needs to get the ball down, these are the hits
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Good to get the no hitter out of the way early in the season lmao
dippitybop Verified Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I remember last season feeling like the blue jays offense were facing some Cy Young hall of famer every night Getting the same feeling tonight
HomeRunHomer Verified Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I, for one, am shocked that a lineup that has Varsho hitting 4th is having trouble getting hits.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Blanco pitching a no-no against the Jays through five innings.
Steeljays Verified Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I remember last season feeling like the blue jays offense were facing some Cy Young hall of famer every night Getting the same feeling tonight Just too many 123 innings. This has been an issue past few years. Their approach is off. How this hitting coach is still employed is beyond me. And maybe it's the scouting other teams as well
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Francis needs to get the ball down, these are the hits The high FB is how he pitches though Houston was just on it. Maybe his spin or command was a bit off. Or they were guessing right. Or it's not a good pitch.
Ray Verified Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Bowden has overpowered some pretty good hitters tonight tbh. Stuff clearly plays. He’s gotten some funky swings. Props to the Astros though. They really capitalized on his mistake pitches.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 By far the best Francis has looked tonight and it’s been facing Altuve, Tucker, Yordan Alvarez and Bregman a third time through the order lol.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Say whatever you want about Francis today but I will say... There were some real positives here. And home runs can be somewhat random. Some of those big Houston hits were not bad pitches at all.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 How the Jays have no clue about his changeup should be someone getting fired. All the talk about being more professional this year and they don't even know what the pitcher throws What gives you this impression? Please tell me it's not because Buck keeps talking about how they were worried about his slider....
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 7k's against a Astros teams bound to break out he deserves another shot for sure
