New year, same trash scouting of the opposing pitcher lmao

And same scrub pitchers destroying us with low/away breaking balls

I dunno man.

It's like the Astros saw Francis the day before actually seeing him. Good game prep I guess.

And the exact opposite for Toronto

It's like they didn't even know Blanco was right handed until today

Not a good outing for Francis but our lineup is pretty weak. We have too many guys that would usually bat 9th. Any deficit seems too large

They're certainly capable, 8 and 9 run games sandwiched between 2 eggs.

How the Jays have no clue about his changeup should be someone getting fired. All the talk about being more professional this year and they don't even know what the pitcher throws

I don’t understand this. Same s*** as last year. Why do we keep getting dominated by s*** pitchers? Who is doing the game planning for the offense?

Credit to Houston though, Blanco’s scouting report says he’s almost 50% sliders, 40% fastballs and 10% mostly changeups. This game he’s mixed them evenly and the Jays have not adjusted.

Same s*** as last year, 5 games in. sucks we gotta wait 80+ games in baseball to find out if it truly is the same or its just sss

Varsho blows....babe should be playing left tonight.

I assume this is just part of the plan for the first couple of weeks to get everyones feet wet, see who does what, and then they will settle the lineup a bit more once they get some games under their belt.

.....or Schneider may just be dumb.

I remember last season feeling like the blue jays offense were facing some Cy Young hall of famer every night

Getting the same feeling tonight

Just too many 123 innings. This has been an issue past few years. Their approach is off. How this hitting coach is still employed is beyond me. And maybe it's the scouting other teams as well

Francis needs to get the ball down, these are the hits

The high FB is how he pitches though

Houston was just on it. Maybe his spin or command was a bit off. Or they were guessing right.

Or it's not a good pitch.

Bowden has overpowered some pretty good hitters tonight tbh. Stuff clearly plays. He’s gotten some funky swings.

Props to the Astros though. They really capitalized on his mistake pitches.

By far the best Francis has looked tonight and it’s been facing Altuve, Tucker, Yordan Alvarez and Bregman a third time through the order lol.

Say whatever you want about Francis today but I will say...

There were some real positives here. And home runs can be somewhat random.

Some of those big Houston hits were not bad pitches at all.

What gives you this impression? Please tell me it's not because Buck keeps talking about how they were worried about his slider....
