Feels like the Turner signing is going to be atrocious

Bat looks slow. Didn't even start the third game of the year. Made an error in his first innings in the field.

lmao

Belt's bat looked the same at the start of last year, hopefully Turner is just on a similarly slow old man start.

Yeah long season

Belt got pretty lucky last year, he sucked by some key process stats

I'm sorry dude but the team wants to be good and their cleanup hitter yesterday was an NRI manatee

All good but he projects to hit something like 120 wRC+ against righties this year

Posted

You can't roll out that lineup on Day 3 of the season when you're planning on contending.

Hopefully Clement gets more rope at 3B since we need to squeeze every ounce of offense from that position as possible.

Don't want to see Turner ever playing 3B again unless its an emergency.

That would be good in the 6 spot

Was not expecting to wake up and have only Spanky join me as the lone voice of calm and reason this morning but here we are lol

Because Laika is finally coming around. You’ll be following him soon enough

He seems comparable to our competition’s cleanup hitters yesterday

Orioles had Mountcastle batting 4th

Yankees had Rizzo at cleanup

Rays had Paredes at cleanup

Vogelbach with a career 125 wRC+ against RHP

He’s coming around after 2 bad games lol

And sure, it’s definitely possible I’ll be joining him. I’ve said it’s a make or break year for Ross. But it’s going to take more than 2 bad games. Whatever one’s preseason thoughts were should be holding at this point.

Talented young hitter

Storied veteran

Good infielder with thump

vs. gigantic fatty that nobody else wanted, who has been waived 14 times in his career and only made the team because a 42 year old rolled his ankle

It's funny (not funny) how Zack Littell is a waiver claim on his 7th org and he's a better SP than the $66 million dollar man Craig Bassitt

The Rays magic.

Watch the Rays get a 2-3 WAR season from Littell this season and then his arm will fall off.

I don't think anyone is giving up on the season after 2 games. Just pointing out how incredibly mid the offense is. Prior to the season there is always hope and optimism, but actually seeing that lineup yesterday on the field is enough to zap even the most optimistic posters here. The one young player on the roster with any sort of impact potential based on the projections is going to be collecting splinters on his ass unless the team is facing a LHP, so that certainly doesn't help. The fact that Vogelbach got into a game and batted cleanup while DS hasn't left the bench yet is pretty disappointing.

It’s two games but it’s essentially the same lineup as last year. So really it’s like a 167 game sample

Yeah I could also see him just making 10-12 really good starts and his arm falls off haha.

I wanted Hoskins for 1B which would move Vlad to DH, but all I was told was that wasn't realistic because coming off a major injury Hoskins would play almost all DH this season.

Oh wait, Hoskins has already started 2 out of the Brewers first 3 games at 1B? That goes against everything I was told about why Hoskins wouldn't be as good of a fit for this team as I thought!

Adding Hoskins would have been huge for this team in multiple ways, because not only would we have added a great 1B in Hoskins, Vlad's fWAR would automatically get juiced as the DH too, without the penalty of being atrocious defensively at 1B.

Yeah but the offense was good last year. Finished tied for 7th in wRC+ and that was with several key guys having down years.

People just think it was bad because we had some luck/clutch issues that are unlikely to repeat (and in fact improved toward the end of the year) and people weren’t baking in the new park factors into their perceptions of what the offense should be.

If Vlad, Kirk, Varsho and Springer rebound like they are projected to the offense should be pretty good.

Where's game 1's start? And yes, that was poo.

(not intential just forgot who even pitched in gm1, eflin is also a soft tosser so it's relevant)

5.2 IP

6 Hits

5 K's

6 runs (3 HR's)

Shaw Armstrong today (I thought they were goint to start Pepiot)

Today's lineup:

DH Springer

1B Vladdy

SS Bichette

3B Turner

CF Varsho

CA Kirk

LF Schneider

2B IKF

RF Biggio

Yes, IKF at 2B instead of Clement. Wonderful.

Armstrong is the opener, Alexander is the bulk reliever; errr... starter.

I think they'd have a very bad time telling their 25-year old supposed franchise player a year removed from a gold glove that he's a DH, two years before he hits free agency.

yea I have him for holds in one of my leagues
