Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Only the great AA was able to give us a division title in 2015 since '93. It's f***ing unreal lol. And it took an extremely weak division that year too. 93 wins was first place with a 6 game lead lol. These days you need close to 100 wins to take the ALE.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 He chugs it. He's more of a haterade aficionado.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 I saw Jays in talks for Gio Urhsela. Team need wise, I’d rather have him than slap stick. Not a ringing endorsement by any means but… Plugging slap stick around may be the plan?
wamco Verified Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Listen C-poop it’s all part of the plan to bring down Chapman’s asking price. First it’s IKF, then keeping all aaa guys with 3b experience. Keeping espinal around. Now it’s rumored about urshela. If that don’t work , we’ll sign Longoria and just simply cut him or bench him after getting Chapman at our price point . REKT LOL
wamco Verified Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 I would like to own back to Dean for a minute if C-poop is accurate and they are rumors of a urshela signing, how do you currently see the budget? Over to you Dean
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Brewers actively shopping Adames now apparently.
wamco Verified Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 C-poopie. Any link to that urshella rumor??? Otherwise take a long walk off a short pier, you troglodyte, bald f***!!!

I’m many things, but I don’t push fake news. Thatd be a pretty lame to make up too, but I’ll see if I can find it
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Ah was the Bleacher Report. Think it’s been called garbage here lol. I don’t actually go on that site, just Jays stuff makes it to my feed
wamco Verified Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Eh just wondering as I couldn’t don’t it online. Didn’t meant to insult you. 2/16 was a projection months ago. I could see 1/9 happening. How would you feel about that
deanmike Verified Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I would like to own back to Dean for a minute if C-poop is accurate and they are rumors of a urshela signing, how do you currently see the budget? Over to you Dean If there's like no market for him I could see him fitting into what we have remaining under the 2nd threshold. Especially if 2.725M 4th stringer Espishit gets punted from this organization, they could have upwards of 9M remaining under said threshold. Only problem is, Rogers Sportsnet mouthpieces BNS and Zwelling said Jays had roughly 12M left to spend before they added Turner for 13M AAV. Seems more likely that either the offseason is done (outside of settling Vlad's arb case), or Jays make AAV in-AAV out moves from here.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I think I saw something a few weeks ago that the Jays had checked in on Urshela, but it wasn't known whether that was before or after the IKF signing. I'm guessing it was before, because there really isn' any room for Urshela on the roster right now.

These days you need close to 100 wins to take the ALE. Damn... I thought we won more games that year but that was probably because we had an unreal 2nd half. Still easily the most fun I had watching baseball was the 2nd half of that year. Loved we had *******s like Jose/Donaldson/Stroman that made other teams hate us more lol

IKF could have a utility type role. Someone like Espy or Biggio would likely be the odd man out and I’d be ok with that for Urshela. I think he’d be a league average bat, won’t hurt you on D. Upgrade imo
wamco Verified Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I’d think espinal and biggio could be moved with an urshella signing. Then Garcia and Richards
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I’d think espinal and biggio could be moved with an urshella signing. Then Garcia and Richards Why though lol? That's barely an upgrade if you can call it one.
wamco Verified Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Urshella and IKF make the 1st 2 unneeded and money to be spent elsewhere
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Urshella is the best of the bunch hands down.. one year removed from 119 wRC+ and over a 4 year stretch from being a regular it was pretty close to that, and he doesn’t hurt you on D. .298 batting average last year lol. Power is the last to go, I don’t think became a 5 HR hitter just yet. Injuries and such likely explanation. IKF blows. Espy and Biggio both have long stretches where they look like minor leaguers
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 IKF doesn't "blow" He's an elite infield defender, especially at 3B and the Jays can use his glove there after letting Chapman walk instead of giving him a bloated anchor contract. The Yankees are the dummies that decided to toss IKF into the OF last year which tanked his value. Of course, all the simpletons will whine about him all f***ing year because he isn't hitting, while completely ignoring what he brings to the table
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Elite defender IKF played 140+ games in 2021 and 2022 almost exclusively at SS and amassed 1.6 and 1.5 WAR. Over 500 AB’s each season He’s basically the threshold for the absolute lowest acceptable starter. If everything breaks right he *might* be a 2 WAR player He might be worth 0.5 too. There’s like zero upside
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 There is upside to having a defender who can defend, especially when you are going to rely on defense and pitching to win enough games to make the post season unless some of the big bats come back to life in 2024
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 My guess is IKF doesn't start many games and they use him as a defender late in games with leads. Have Schneider start at 2nd and remove him late in games to have the upgrade in defense. Biggio likely starts at 3B vs RHP if he looks more like the guy at the end of last season.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Green IKF Urshela Too many ex Yankees

Could see them doing this with IKF and Turner at 3rd too, would allow them to start Vladdy and Horwitz in the same lineup

Not like that’s a controversial take. If all the Jays can hit better, maybe it won’t be so bad. If everyone is struggling again, the moans and groans here about Slappy at 3b will get pretty loud. Book it

There’s like zero upside At he’s going to be 29, and considering his career, that’s his absolute ceiling. The BAT, who I have previously always said I like the best, and Laila told me one time it showed favorably to some of the others, has him at .3 to .5 WAR for the season over 340 ABs. With a .620 OPS or whatever, that’ll be somewhere close to PA’s he’ll likely see if there’s not injuries elsewhere as they’ll look to shake things up in the lineup I’d imagine. We’ll see

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 This is basically my take on this s***** offseason... It’s a WC team. 89 win team is the general high hope. So not a bad team, but certainly uninspiring to what it look like they were trying to build a few years ago. It’s like the Bills projecting to be 10-7 and make the playoffs as a WC. Could call that a “good team” but certainly uninspiring

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 This is basically my take on this s***** offseason... This the goof that messed with a bunch of gullible fans and heavily implied that a Soler signing was imminent?
