Ohtani wants all this attention to keep driving the price higher. It’s not that hard to believe, Roger’s doesn’t care either it sells the brand even more which makes the shareholders ecstatic

Ohtani has a right to take as much time as he needs but the wait sure is getting old and annoying lol.

Pretty sure that Ohtani is an asexual baseball-playing AI and being the cause of internet drama is his version of secret BDSM play.

You assume we keep both, I think one of them goes to free agency.

Not a chance if they miss ln Ohtani. There is an extra 60M a year to spend on top of filling out a few positions

It’s not obvious that the team would think Bo and Vlad are the best places to spend that money

Especially when you have hookers and blow at the ready

Just think...if we don't get Ohtani, Vlad and Bo are getting big extensions lmao
Doubt it. I seen one of the CBS sports guys saying he thinks we will pivot to Bellringer (10/245)

That's going to be the biggest puke contract in history

If you're in the GTA, try to avoid malls and other large public gatherings for the next few days. This guy is going to hit his breaking point sooner or later and it won't be pretty.

He came so close to becoming an online superstar.

The more serious these Ohtani talks become, the less I care about the team extending Guerrero and Bichette. The Jays have demonstrated an ability to attract top supermodels. Why settle and put a ring on the fingers of the high school sweethearts who are a 6 out of 10 and 8 out of 10 respectively? It's actually a brilliant move by the Jays to try to move on from these guys without the PR hit.

Ohtani had 9 fWAR last season and only pitched half the year.

Bo and Vlad combined for 4.8 fWAR.

Ohtani is a unicorn. Just because they willing to open up the books for Ohtani doesn't mean they can or will spend like that on Bo/Vlad, and they shouldn't

Also, the scuttlebutt is that Bo wants to go to free agency anyways unless they overpay him ridiculously, and Vlad probably wants way too much for what has been dwindling performance for an overweight first baseman.

The Ohtani frenzy was started by Sportsnet which is owned by Rogers stating Ohtani signing was imminent "even today"

Thats started the plane frenzy...its all Rogers fault.

Shi not mentioning Morosi in his piece (based on what has been said here, I didn't read it) is absolutely spineless on his part. I've said for years that Morosi is a clickbait hack but for whatever reason whenever he tweets something, every MLB social media account runs with it. He had "credibility" entirely because publications validated him. If Morosi doesn't tweet that, then the hoopla likely would have been a lot less chaotic, and would have been mostly on the Dodger guy and TL/Nope's stalker-esque conspiracy theory. Morosi lit the fire big time, so for Davidi to not mention him at all because of their working relationship but mentioning the Dodger source makes Shi look bad.

Absolutely 100% false

It would have the chances of being ugly but probably wouldn't be the "biggest puke contract in history".

I'm not advocating for this or anything, just stating what I read. I don't believe for a second that Bo will re-sign. He's going to FA

The imminent talk was put forward by Morosi

Various people said Ohtani's decision might be imminent

But they didn't say Toronto

Only the Dodgers reporter said Toronto

there is one report that someone ignoring, the one that said he is not in toronto, but in LA where he is going through a 2 day extensive physical . I will try to find it and link it

Exactly. That was one of the biggest reports yesterday from a "TRUSTED" insider, and yet it's nowhere in his article. But he sure spends a lot of time pointing out how silly it was for anyone to believe an opera singer.

Morosi's colossal blunder isn't mentioned at all because he appears on Sportsnet.

Davidi's entire article is framed as some sort of "educational piece" on being careful what you should believe, but it's underlying point is to help out his buddies in the industry who were obviously instrumental in fanning the flames.

The Morosi omission is my only complaint with the article. I can only guess that perhaps Davidi and Morosi are buddies or something and this was done to protect a friend but this is pure speculation on my part.

In a way the Morosi thing was indirectly referenced as the article mentioned unverified social media reports, which is basically what so many social media posts contain nowadays even from so-called "insiders". Unfortunately social media has greatly blended into traditional reporting so that it's becoming increasingly difficult to separate fiction from reality. I think that the existence of Twitter has largely ruined the traditional media as far too many individuals are clamoring to be the first to report something whether it's true or not. I detest that "news" stories are even including tweets now which for the most part seem to be statements of personal opinion rather than verified facts.
