LOL. No way. Precisely my point. They are in our Division aren't they? And we match up with our top WAR accumulating players so far - IKF and Varsho. Thats the sad state of the fapping material available to us.

Pick who you want as replacements on that list. They are 44 and 54 so lots of room between the three I chose and 44th to select.

Sad state.

Compare Vlad and Bo and I'd feel better, lol. :P

Correct me if I'm wrong, but $240M/8 would make Vladdy the highest paid 1B in the MLB. Granted it's the younger years, Age 27-34 seasons, but I can't see it with the performance over the last couple years.

If he suddenly starts putting things together in the second half, it's a possibility, but I'm just looking at the situation as it stands. I am 100% walking away from $240M for this guy.

Bryce Harper.

Yes, that would put him ahead of Harper, Freeman, and Goldy. We would paying for youth and prime years. Cost of doing business with young free agents. Salaries will likely continue to escalate in the years to come so...

Derosa suggested trade... Busch/Shaw and Caissie to the Birds... Vlad/Bassitt and Garcia to the Cubs, I'm in.

Yeah that would be sweet. Shaw seems like a really good prospect. Busch has more WAR right now than Vlad, lol.

Bassitt is worth nothing and Yimi is worth who knows what.

Should've left this out mate, lol... those guys are superstars.

You and I have a very very different definition of “superstar”

Derosa is notorious for his outrageous trade scenarios, dude has no concept of player value

Okay...

Okay...

Superstar should be reserved for players that end the season with at least 5 WAR imo. Also gotta prove consistency

Dude? Go read that again.

If Vladdy wanted 8/200 I would do it in a heartbeat.

If he wanted 8/240 I would consider it.

Just saying.

Yeah I think 8/200 is fine. He's already getting $20m coming off a 1 WAR season, and will likely get at least $25m in 2025 via arbitration, so that type of contract isn't completely unreasonable from the Jays standpoint given his age/upside. If Vlad is looking for a higher AAV or more total dollars, then that's where it gets complicated.

I get the feeling he wants his AAV to start with the number 3.

I'm pretty sure they see Vladdy in Freddy Freeman territory and will seek $27M AAV as a minimum starting point.

Talking about Freeman and Vladdy as one of the same is hilarious. There's no way Vladdy gets $25M as an arb 3 next year, is there?

You just can't give Vladdy that long a term with his body type. 4/100 sounds more reasonable, or a one year contract for $30M with options.

That doesn't feel like much of a stretch as he still received a $5.5 million raise in arbitration last offseason.

Or some type of opt-out deal.

His body type is okay for playing 1B.

Playing first is easy. Scott Hatteberg did it. Anyone can do it.

Vlad's body actually looks fine this year

I don't think his body has a whole lot to do with it anymore

Just a skill issue at this point

Ross Atkins on Blair&Barker today regarding the future of John Schneider:

"He has my full support. He is tough, smart, prepared and he has the clubhouse."

Bo waiting for that trade.

Atkins is on Overdrive right now and Hayes asked him about this, he said he was surprised on that comment and wants to talk to Bo

either way this team is one hot mess right now

The teams in shambles. No wonder he's not surprised.

This is what the end of a GM tenure looks like. No way Atkins survives this, if that wasn't obvious already. He's lost the room.

He's probably too afraid to talk to them so he uses one of his minions.
