Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 No GDT and the Jays score in the 1st inning and Vlad hits a HR with runners on. It is like opposite day today.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Yeah the 2023 team was just missing some bats, otherwise the rotation and bullpen along with their defense were all spectacular! It's a shame they wasted an opportunity with that pitching staff in top form. In large part - Kirk showing he's not the hitter we though he was, Chapman going ice cold after a hot start
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 No game day thread the fans have thrown in the towel

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 In large part - Kirk showing he's not the hitter we though he was, Chapman going ice cold after a hot start Yup that didn't help either. But warning signs were there. Kirk really only was great offensively for 1.5-2 months of 2022. Chapman always had flaws offensively, but he should have been good for 25-30 HR's at least! Something was fundamentally wrong with their lineup last season and it carried over into this season. Would have been nice if the Jays added a bat or two at the deadline last year. Didn't have to be a stud or anything. Someone like a Teo, Pederson, Candelario, Canha, Pham, Josh Bell, Jake Burger, Carlos Santana etc. Not saying any of those guys would have guaranteed a World Series, but definitely would have given them a better chance down the stretch and in the Wildcard/Postseason.
The_DH Verified Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 at the beginning of spring training, don't they do physicals/blood work?? Team had to know.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 In large part - Kirk showing he's not the hitter we though he was, Chapman going ice cold after a hot start They could have bolstered the lineup at the deadline but they chose not to. But yes, underperformances killed us in 2023
keggy Verified Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 People who are swallowing Orelvis' sob story need to grow up and face reality. The only thing management needs to be doing is figure out when he started on gear so they can adjust their projections.

The only thing management needs to be doing is figure out when he started on gear so they can adjust their projections. The choice of drug makes him suspect. Clomiphine is known to work within a testosterone replacement therapy regimen. From what I read it can more than double the amount of testosterone in a male. Just another hit this franchise didn't need.

Cynical Verified Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 These fertility processes are pretty common these days (I know 5 different couples who are going through this). Not sure if it was an honest mistake that he didn't think he needed to report it, but can't blame a guy for wanting to have a kid. This organization just doesn't seem very bright in general though. From batters not having a game plan to their players not being educated in things like procedures that alter testosterone. Geez It's too bad the stadium renovations is going to keep Shapiro here which means Atkins isn't going anywhere either
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 It makes me sad that Orelvis will never have kids
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 I’d likely make out with a man before I ever became a NYY fan, but that’s a pretty fun and easy to root for duo they got. Soto can basically sign his check. I’m going to guess 14/540 Makes sense, since you already fellate them at all cost, toerag. Hahaha...
The_DH Verified Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Jeez, should just send in Vlad Guerrero Sr to pinch hit for Martinez.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Use the open 40 man spot to call up Riley Tirotta and hope he continues his current white hot streak from AAA. Only 81 career PA at the AAA level but he's soon turning 26, hardly rushing at that point. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/riley-tirotta/sa3017078/stats?position=1B%2F3B Wouldn't hurt.
The_DH Verified Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Two questions as follow up to Stewart Berroa being called up: Given that he's wearing #37, does that mean Votto isn't coming and two Is Votto coming back with his old #19? Don't know why he had #37 at all.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Schneider is probably low key relieved he doesn't have to come up with excuses for why he continues to play Springer and KK every day instead of a younger player. I'm pretty sure that's on the man trying not to get fired.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Look at the amount of failed PED tests during the Shapiro/Atkins regime vs AA. lol... da fuq???
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 lol... da fuq??? Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins released a statement regarding the news: "This situation is very disappointing and disturbing to the organization; disappointing that the players made these choices, but more so disturbing that some failure of our environment allowed this to happen. It is our responsibility to create an environment and culture where our players know that PED use is not condoned, and to give them resources and education to ensure that they do not make these decisions."
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Another L for prospect nut huggers lol Yeah, because baseball players come from Storks, too...

Exactly, it's on the players, not the org.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's just lip-service.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Time to sell Shapiro, tie RA's hands and give the keys to Click/Tinnish... BOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 So here is the reality. The Jays would have to win the next 7 games in a row against Boston and New York to be .500 on July 1st. The Jays have a -50 run differential. The math for the Jays to be a .500 team or plus .500 with a positive run differential by July 30th is very problematic. Just like FA, if you strike first you can sometimes snake some players from the pool. Start selling with the pitch of an additional month of control etc. Plus, our "current" trade assets could get hurt, start sucking/start sucking more etc. Take advantage of Teams that still think they have a shot.
