Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 How long is the fan base going to pretend like the Jays didn't try to help the offense this off season? Does anyone remember them throwing $600 million + at the biggest bat out there? He picked somewhere else. You need two to tango. Get it done, or it doesn't matter... "Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f*** the prom queen.”
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 What should I know about Espino Nothing. He'll be DFA'd too eventually.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Get it done, or it doesn't matter... "Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f*** the prom queen.” It does matter. You can't sit there and continuously whine and bitch about the Jays not "fixing the offense" when there was no realistic way to fix it. I mean, I guess you can fault the FO somewhat for not realizing Vladdy is an over rated wannabe with a thimble brain, Springer's offensive trajectory was going to do a cliff dive and Kirk's 2nd half 2022 was just the beginning of the league figuring out how to handle him.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Very happy to have this backstory, thank you so much you just made my day. The connorp lore grows. Sounds like you were just a bit of a hustler, decades ago, for a few years and played it fast and loose then it blew up. Good stuff. I am sure much was learned. Yeah I won’t too much detail but my dad was the worker type but brothers did very well. My first cousin that I’ll leave unnamed is actually one of the more powerful politicians in the US. A legit potential VP pick this cycle. My summer job my sophomore and junior year in hs was their nanny/babysitter. So that’s my surreal part to add to the story. After that massive family breakup thoug that involved lawyers and courts for a year, haven’t talked to anyone
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 I just noticed the Jays are dead last in the league with a 0.196 BABIP That's some pretty bad luck ain't it? Some stat cast guru's please tell me it's mostly bad luck and will likely improve

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Urshela's s***, man. s*** from a fantasy perspective sure. 3b with a .750 OPS, not great counting stats. It’s not a hole in the lineup though.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 If the real estate thing is a shot across the bow, I probably know the workings around the REmarket better than you, or do at least. Was supposed to be my career. Had a worker dad and super rich real estate developing uncle. Levered my father to get into the business and had a nice house free and clear by 22. Last years of college even was picking out land lots, going on the blueprint websites to pick out houses I wanted to build, purchased all interior finishes. Had backing from old mafia type retired GE guy, and family friend super rich Jewish ENT surgeon. Graduated to multi-unit and subdivision projects.. all before 25. With a wife most guys would die for and new baby. And I f***ed it all up lol. Just wanted to flash off money, be a big shot, little cocky. 1 night at my stomping ground Mardi Gras strip club in Springfield, MA, dropped like $15k in VIP and word got back to my family and everything from there just collapsed like the Bluejays franchise fast and swift. That core regret and desire to reset time will always by my demon. Luckily as my kid got older and needed my as a FT single dad, I was able to kind of put myself together. So to pay for all these private schools, I kind of had to stop playing the small violin. A wife "most guys would die for" and dropped 15K in a strip club. Makes sense?

They're employed to fix it, not throw up your hands and complain that's it's too hard. When your first plan goes awry you change the plan.

That being said, I bet their line drive rate is very low and their popup rate is above average.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Personally I think Leo DiCaprio should be cast in this compelling biopic. Margot Robbie would play the wife men would kill for, with a cold unforgiving edge with a simmering hatred for shady strip joints. Private school son (important viewers are constantly reminded this special child was in private school) would be played by Timothée Chalamet, a slightly troubled young man (Yankees fan) desperate to live up to his father's not so humble brags. Big budget incoming. Sounds more like a story arc for an episode of Married with Children, sans divorce.

Yeah, the big part of left out was the blow involved lol. Wasn’t an addict or anything, doing in non party spots, but my party drug of choice. It was taken another way though. If I was married, after a few years, I’d be a cheater. Nothing I’m proud about. But not something like my other bad sociopathic traits. Normal people can be like that. I’m not addicted to sex, but the newness and hunt. I get bored with partners easily. Doesn’t matter how good they are. I’m not monogamous but I like kids. So it’s a conflict
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 lol... I see him on your roster. Royce went to DL. Best of what was there
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 They're employed to fix it, not throw up your hands and complain that's it's too hard. When your first plan goes awry you change the plan. Who in the front office has thrown up their hands and complained that it's too hard? What are you even talking about? lmao And they did change the plan (it looks like from the outside anyways), after the only real FA bat went where everyone figured he was going they shored up the defense and waited out the DH market, ended up with Turner. They tossed up a hail mary for Ohtani and when that didn't happen they decided not to waste a f***load of money on lesser bats with question marks all over them like Bellinger.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Is there any news on where Joey Votto is right now. Is he still in Dunedin? Haven’t seen anything about him for awhile.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Freebasing? lol. I meant the thought I had a problem or something. That and gambling.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Manoah is going for Dunedin Sunday? Interesting, milb scoreboard finally got updated with starting pitchers once the milb rosters got released and have Maroudis' pro debut on Sunday. 1 would assume Shi has the accurate info. I wonder if Landen will go after Alec or if they'll push him to Tuesday.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 does Clement start tomorrow or does he also not do well with the high heat?
43211234 Verified Member Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 I'm on #TeamPositivity The Blue Jays might just sweep this series and start 6-4 on a tough roadtrip. You'll be begging me, Spanky, and The Sherriff to jump back on the bandwagon in August, after Schneider and Clement make All-Star appearances and are already 3 win players. And Vladdy is slashing .280/.400/.510
