Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 I don't know if this is really the place for discussion about it, but I have really found the fact that all the discussion on this board basically gets confined to like four threads is unideal for effective discussions. I get not wanting a specific thread for every issue with the team etc. but even just having like general blue jays hitting discussion, general blue jays pitching discussion, general blue jays bullpen discussion or something like would probably help with a conversation or discussion not getting lost in a couple of pages, or a single diversion between two posters drowning out any other conversation for a series of pages. This is like the busiest Blue Jays message board by a mile, and it's weird that it winds up working that way. Over the years the culture of the board has shifted to the mega-thread dictatorship we see today. It used to be you could come to the board and get an idea what was going on in baseball and the world. Like you'd come here and see... Topic 1: Post game thread: Bo comes through! Topic 2: Justin Trudeau... Gay?? Topic 3: Ohtani in big trouble (gambling MOB connections) Topic 4: On base percentage the most important stat still! Topic 5: Covid Vaccine killed my Grandpa. Topic 6: Ernie Clement. Batting Title (not kidding) Topic 7: Mike Wilner... total moron. Topic 8: f*** YOU SHAPIRO! Topic 9: Stadium Renovations. Topic 10: Send Vlad To Indy Ball By examining the topic titles one could immediately get a feel for what was happening in baseball and world at large, and every day was different. Depending on your interests, last nights game, Vlad's latest Slump, Justin Trudeau's latest controversy, vaccine side effects, the new stadium seating chart, or the Ohtani gambling controversy, you could choose a topic that you would enjoy. I understand that this is hard to moderate, especially with so many deviant posters starting off-topic and banned ********, and same posters randomly inserting such ******** in innocent threads... but still. Miss the days when not everyday was the same.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Ohtani scandal deserves its own thread
AMS528 Verified Member Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Ohtani scandal deserves its own thread True, and it's also true that there are no rules against doing that so it's more of an ingrained culture thing at this point where everyone's accustomed to just discussing every other topic in the around baseball thread. Be the change you want to see I guess.

I feel like I've had to create new threads when there's a Jays transaction because no one else does. Like who the hell am I... there's numerous more active and important people to this board who should be doing this. I can't stand when people discuss 5 different topics when there's a big enough story to warrant its own thread lol.

Problem though is alot of the times, Mods decide to merge it into the around baseball or general discussion thread.

This will be the last time I comment on the mods because last time I made a joke towards them, I got banned for a week. They are GREAT ppl lol.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 I need Davis Schneider to not suck It's important for my brand can he please not suck?

There's a thread where you can do that without reprisals.

Problem though is alot of the times, Mods decide to merge it into the around baseball or general discussion thread. The problem is that people don't read before posting. Would you rather see 10 people post in a current thread about the same thing, or would you rather them start 10 different threads about it? You know they're not going to check first either way.

I don't see many duplicate threads created at all but those can always be locked/merged in the worst case. Think the regulars would typically check and the new people shouldn't be allowed to create threads until they pass a "probationary period" anyways.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 And f*** yes to that! Gausman for April 1??
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 And f*** yes to that! Gausman for April 1?? Gausman starting that game and going 4 innings or so is probably no different than plugging someone in (length wise). The difference is the quality of the innings. As long as there's no added injury risk, I see no reason not to have him start then.

I don't see the point of wasting his next outing in a simulated game or rehab start... Edited March 26, 2024 by G-Snarls
