Maybe the stride/stance was the flaw identified by Mattingly last season that Vlad refused to fix at the time?

My understanding is that Vlad used to swing with his top hand as the driving force pushing the bat through the zone instead of the bottom hand pulling the bat through the zone.

If soup goes I go, would expect most other longtime posters to as well. Then ad revenue is $0. Bad business. The sabremetric community is tight knit and loyal.

It's obvious why the two of you are a package deal so the bolded part is certainly correct.

The weirdest thing is they basically have the same personality, where Frenchonionsoup posts a steady stream of nonsense, gets told to politely go f*** himself, and then Magoo or whatever his name is white knights for his alter ego.

Agree. It’s funnier that everyone here has convinced themselves of this. Zero critical thinking skills. Notice that it’s from the same people who have zero input on good trades and signings, likely part time minimum wage workers living at home who are afraid to put themselves out there.

Snell's stats are kinda crazy. Such dominant numbers but he also walked 100 batters. Really freaking weird.

I guess racking up a s*** load of strikeouts and not allowing hits makes up for a little bit. But doesn't feel very sustainable.

I mean, Nolan Ryan did it for about a hundred years.

Actually looking at some examples, pitchers who have the trifecta of lots of walks, lots of strikeouts and low hit rates tend to "grow up" and walk much fewer once they hit age 30. Randy Johnson being the prime example. Bobby Witt cut his walk rate in his 30's but his strikeouts plunged and hits against increased so he's a cautionary tale.

Problem with Snell is that his walk rate went in the opposite direction than you'd like it to once a power pitcher hits 30.

As added punishment to being a fan of this team, it should be required that Frenchsoup is allowed to post unabated and no one can IL him until either the Jays win a World Series or Atkins gets fired. The instant one of those two events happen, he gets booted.

I think the far and away biggest concern with Snell is they typical lack of innings he provides. He has only averaged about 125 innings per season for his career so it's lunacy that he expects to receive ace level dollars.

agreed, nobody else is putting out good posts anyway. All sparkly does lately is criticize his posts too. Why is someone here to only criticize? Doesn’t seem fun. Maybe get into pickle ball or something if you hate fun.

So glad those 2 twits are gone, hope it's permanent. It wasn't fun to read their stupidity.

You don’t like to read about how Joey Votto is a great fit every day?

Frenchsoup’s troll shtick was he went to jail for a few years. He probably just wasn’t posting. Anyways, so most of his posts were from that troll angle. Bringing up players that suck now that would’ve been good 3 years ago. He went to the well far too often imo.

I like Kim a lot too. He was one of my preferred targets the offseason where he chose to sign with San Diego and it sounds like he would have signed with the Jays had they been willing to allow him to refuse minor league assignments. I think he would be a perfect Bo replacement should Bo leave in free agency as Kim could be extended for a lot more reasonable amount compared to Bo. I have no idea what he would cost in trade but I don't think he would come cheap given how the Padres are trying to compete and he's a massive bargain at only $8 million for his final season. Maybe something like Schneider and Barger could get a deal done.

MLBTraderumors has a recent post about this as well.

That's why I would take Cronenworth back. It should cut down on the return they have to give up and he was very good the two previous years to 2023. I get the contract isn't ideal and that's why he's been reported as untradable but if you can't get three to four 2-3 win seasons out of him it will be worth it, IMO.

34. Franklin Rojas, C, Venezuela

Born: March 20, 2007. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 5-10. Wt.: 170.

Team: Blue Jays

Rojas represented Venezuela first at the U-12 World Cup in 2019 in Taiwan, then again in 2022 in Venezuela at the U-15 World Cup Americas Qualifier. He has a medium frame that’s strong for his age, without a ton of physical projection but already making hard contact with good swing path and bat-to-ball skills. His high baseball IQ is an asset behind the plate, where he projects to stick with good catch-and-throw skills and a solid-average arm.
