Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Scored three runs on no hits in the 6th. This season.....damn.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 When is Vlad going to learn the good ole boys don’t like Gatorade showers for a non-walk off situation. Vlad has single handedly made the Gatorade shower irrelevant.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 When is Vlad going to learn I'm not sure he's capable of learning
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 I'm not sure he's capable of learning Really? I’m 100% sure he’s not capable of learning anything further. His brain has reached it’s capacity

Yet you react negatively and too quickly when anyone criticizes non latin players help us all understand because the most ironic thing is, your name is carlos.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Vlad with BBs in 6 straight games, 7 of the last 8, 9 BBs total Good sign imo
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Tide turning? Orioles looked like the little league team tonight. I like the matchup for game 4 but let’s wait and see…
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Vlad with BBs in 6 straight games, 7 of the last 8, 9 BBs total Good sign imo Sure yeah. He had an awful strikeout on the typical low and away slider though in his 2nd AB. Just needs to avoid that
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Thank goodness they finally won one, hopefully the monkey is off the back now.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Yeah his lack of patience is the one obvious difference from 2021
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Sure yeah. He had an awful strikeout on the typical low and away slider though in his 2nd AB. Just needs to avoid that Vlad had an WOBA of .351 last year and an XWOBA of .347. This year he has a WOBA of .339 and an XWOBA of .389. I feel like he's due for a September like BO had last year. Springer and him both really. Hopefully they get white hot and straighten those numbers out.

As someone else mentioned earlier in another thread, there is a major discrepancy in wOBA VS xWOBA with flyball direction. Vladdy is pulling less and hitting more to CF than he has in the past. This could account for some of the discrepancy, but I do agree his numbers should get better

Nats, Rockies, Athletics and Royals should help with that.

Just needs to avoid that It was his first strikeout on the homestand. He had walked 6 times before his first K. Is that good enough for you?
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Yeah his lack of patience is the one obvious difference from 2021 In 2021 he started off great with his chase% but then got less and less patient as the year went along as pitchers started being extremely careful with him. His chase % has improved greatly for 2023 as the season has gone along, his season high was in May at 47.6% on off speed, 41.5% on breaking balls and 24.3% on fastballs. For July he was at 30.4% on the breaking ball, 25.8% on the off speed and 22.1% on fastballs. SSS for his August numbers obviously but they are even better. I really think hes gonna break out and have a monster run here soon. He hits the ball too damn hard too damn often for it not to happen at some point if he keeps his chases under control like he has been.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
