Just curious what kind of Value Kirk might have and if he would be an option at the deadline if the price is right.

You would prefer to utilize a AAA depth option instead of Kirk? Then what happens when Jansen gets hurt? Now you are running two AAA depth catchers at the major league level. All so you can trade Kirk at his lowest possible level. Hard pass to that one.

Would never get equal value for him right now

Moreno already stated he wasn't going to trade him to the Dodgers.

He’s such a dumbass. Like dude shut your mouth lol

Funny you mention that... Kirk is 39th in the MLB in trade value according to Fangraphs who just started their annual trade value conuntdown:

Vlad checks in at 35, a precipitous drop from his #9 ranking last seaosn.

No doubt, if anything he should be not-so-delicately stating that he's open for business, listening to all offers no matter what, while also stating he may be moved, he may not be.

but he's a f***ing idiot

The Orioles would be able to put the best package together for Ohtani. I'm not sure they would go all in like that, but they have 9 top 100 prospects, no payroll and a handful of studs already at the MLB level making peanuts. The orioles have done a crazy good job drafting, which a lof of is also luck. They are going to be a pain in our asses for quite a while.

Yeah the Os could trade 3 of their top 10 prospects, all being bats, and still be mostly fine.

They absolutely should

I also said the Pats should’ve moved Bedard. Insane not to

I'm the furthest thing from a Pats fan, but they couldn't trade Bedard. He didn't want to be traded and they needed his (and family) permission because he was under 18. There's also some marketing logic from a junior hockey team perspective to lay claim to a generational hockey talent as their own. A franchise-crippling move though for sure in not trading him.

Didn’t all the mods get together and try to curb pro-Oriole posts? This seems counterproductive

I know I know he's 17 so he had to approve a trade. I have a hard time believing he wouldn't have ok'd a deal to Kelowna or Seattle though with a chance to play in the Mem Cup

There is some value in the words "With the first pick, the Chicago Blackhawks select from the Regina Pats..."

I believe that all first round picks in the CHL have a no-trade clause whether they are under 18 or not. It's definitely true for the OHL.

No, they didn't want to move. The family had/has a condo and his mom was living in Regina with him. I think there was no chance they would have agreed to go since he had nothing left to prove in junior.

What the heck are you guys talking about?

I think they're trying to equate trading Conner Bedard and Shohei Ohtani somehow.

Kind of stupid to say that publicly. Just use the Dodgers to help build up his price and trade him to another team. Clearly ego got in the way of what's best for the team here lol.

This is going to be awkward when we trade him in a package for Max Scherzer at the deadline.

If the Angels don’t trade Ohtani. They will officially be the dumbest franchise in the history of sports. There’s absolutely no reason to keep him when they can set up their entire future with one trade.

Its not like they are going to have Trout anytime soon either.

If they don't its:

30. Angels

29. Rockies

Hard to believe there could be a stupider franchise than the Rockies out there.

5.5 games behind WC3 with SEA, NYY and BOS ahead of them and CLE 0.5 games behind them

With no Mike Trout for the foreseeable future. And a very tough schedule in August.

The other aspect is Ohtani hasn't exactly been the most durable player. The scenario where they don't trade him, and he gets hurt not long after is very real.

How much different are the scenarios in your opinion?

It feels a bit personal between the Angels and the Dodgers right now. Like the Dodgers have had some discussion with Ohtani and/or the Angels. Angels owners basically saying OVER PAY or FU. The messaging between the teams seems to be chest thumping and random projections
