That was my first thought, isn't Kim a SS? I have little doubt Chapman would be great at it, but this still didn't really compute

I believe that Kim would likely man second base until his shoulder was strong enough to handle short stop.

 

If Chapman went to short, the Giants could go with Tyler Fitzgerald at third. They also could use Casey Schmitt, an excellent defender who batted .311 with a .991 OPS in 49 plate appearances against left-handed pitching last season. David Villar and/or Brett Wisely could figure into the mix until Kim was healthy enough to play short, enabling Chapman to return to third.

Yeah, I've read that on MLBTR, that it would be a short period, that makes more sense now.

I don't see the need for musical chairs though. Leave your guy at 3B and find a middle INF who can play either side of the bag as needed

I think we're pretty lucky we resisted the urge to extend him. The skills look to be declining.

 

I like Jano, but his time was up IMO.

I'd take Jano at 8.5M all day, he played after a broken wrist, explains the down year imo, hopefully he isn't cooked cause of his damn hands and wrists.

 

He was projected to get 2/20, he went pretty cheap.

Yeah, 1 yr $8.5M is fine. I was talking about a longer extension. Back in 2022/23, we were talking about how he'd really figured it out offensively and was a guy we wanted to get reps at DH when he wasn't catching. I don't think I want Jano for 3 or 4 more years.

Royals Sign Cavan Biggio To Minor League Contract

The Royals announced that utilityman Cavan Biggio has been signed to a minor league contract. While no mention was made in the team’s official announcement, it can be assumed that Biggio received an invitation to Kansas City’s big league Spring Training camp.

K.C. is Biggio’s fifth different organization within the last seven months. Biggio had spent his entire pro career with the Blue Jays until Toronto traded him to the Dodgers in June, and Los Angeles released him two months later. The Giants then picked Biggio up on another minors contract in August but he didn’t see any big league time with San Francisco before he was traded to the Braves in August. Biggio appeared in four games with Atlanta and was then outrighted off the 40-man roster at season’s end, with Biggio opting for free agency.

Some would say he got more than enough opportunities with the Jays.  With a different last name, he probably gets sent back to AAA and never makes it back to the majors.  Sucks because he had a nice start to his career.

I meant more that he got to play in 40 games and had a chance to hit and prove he can stay in the bigs,. Not so much that he could beat any regulars on The Dodgers for a job. From day 1 everyone knew he was just a fill in and they weren't going to keep him.
