White pitched to a 3.76 FIP as a Blue Jay in 2022 after being acquired in trade. There's no way in hell he deserved the .368 BABIP he was victimized by as he limited hard hits to a 35% rate with an 87.8 MPH average exit velocity and ran a 46% ground ball rate and 19.6% line drive rate. Too many people refuse to look beyond the BABIP fueled ERA when evaluating his relative performance that season. White was injured in the spring last year and it effectively nuked his 2023 season.

Time will tell what he is moving forward but at least there's hope he can be an effective swingman or multi inning reliever in seasons to come. He was sitting mid to upper 90's to end the season in AAA and was striking out nearly 12 batters per 9 innings over his last month and a half of starts so it's not as though the guy is devoid of talent.

You know way too much about guys like Cavan Biggio and Mitch White. You should ask to join LOD. It may end up being like bagging a 10 for you.

Ross Stripling arc incoming

Kevin Gausman was DFAd by the Braves in in 2019 and also non-tendered by the Reds. Dumbass Jays gave him 100+ million smh

He also had a range of success after that fact. Mitch White has never been anywhere near the level of Kevin Gausman. So stop this nonsense narrative. Horrendous comparison. Maybe one of the worst I have ever seen.

Yeah speaking of fantasy bb I held on to Gausman in many leagues while with the Orioles and he had the stuff but it always seemed he’d leave some pitches hanging and ruin the day. Someone like him it makes sense they go next level when they find an out pitch. White definitely not that

That's like his best case scenario. And good for him if he makes that happen.

It will be interesting to see if he even makes the team. From an asset management point of view if he pitches well having him a spot starter / long guy wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

But the Jays Bullpen mix is pretty loaded. Cabrera, Garcia, Green, Mayza, Richards, Romano, and Swanson.

And than you have guys like Bowden Francis and Zach Pop who could argue deserve spots as well. Especially Francis. That's not even factoring in Danner or Zululeta who could also be apart of this bullpen. And the Cuban they just signed from the Japanese league.

It's going to be tough for Mitch White. And Jays overall depth looks fantastic. Maybe Mitch White ends up with Oakland and being part of rotation with Stripling lol.

He pretty much leads the brigade in all of the overly reactionary whining sessions around here with the barrage of surface level evaluations.

Punt 'em to the Sun!

Couldn't even comprehend a league that large^^^^

Pussy.

You might wanna check out Gausman’s minor league numbers and compare them to White’s before stating something like this.

He heard Frasso hitting 98 and spewed, a fool.

Always some spring injuries. He makes the team unless his stuff looks like s*** in spring

The Jays thought highly enough of White to trade for him, and then put him back on the 40 man roster after last season where he looked awful. I think they'll give him every chance to win a spot. He was great in his last 6 AAA starts last season, and was hitting 97 on the gun (not sure if he was doing that previously), so maybe there's some hope. If there isn't then they can always get rid of him later. Reality is, Manoah is a massive question mark, Tiedemann will be on an innings limit, Yariel hasn't pitched in a year, and the team preferred starting a completely broken Manoah over Francis in 2023. There's probably a 50% chance that White is the #5 starter to start the season if he looks competent.

And I hope he does. I hope Manoah actually rebounds. But Mitch White making the team and being impactful in a Swingman roll would be fantastic for this team. We need as much good depth as possible. And the pitching by far the strength of this team. This team is only going as far as the pitching takes them.

No you don’t. You hope White continues sucking balls and that Frasso becomes the best closer in the league, just so you can say “haha told you so”

I don’t get anything out of that. In a perfect world they both have successful careers. I don’t actively cheer against anyone who plays for the Jays. I also hope Frasso realizes his potential but injuries might ultimately prevent this and that sucks and is frustrating.

Jonn gives off an overwhelming scent of Reddit user. Even his profile page ‘I’m awesome’ ‘your mom’ ‘boss’ and then his twitch page at the bottom.

I probably made that like 8 years ago lol.

Ironically I hate Reddit. But peoples panties get in a twist more often here lately than in the past. I miss the Bluejays.com days. Less sensitive and less Liberals.

Who were all the posters who was saying Atkins should be fired for trading Frasso? And that it was the worst trade in the history of trades

I wasn't anywhere near that reactionary. However, I did say and believe it to this day that you are not going to "win" on a trade with the current Dodger's FO twice. We lucked out with Stripling and I just didn't see that happening twice.

When the Dodgers let an SP go, it is because they think they are shot or they like much better what they are getting back.

I think Mitch White was a prime example of this apart from the recent injury to Frasso.

Pepiot is good, but Glasnow is/can be elite.

I can't think of many examples where the Dodgers have let a good SP get way and not getting a really good return.

I am and would be vary wary when you make a SP trade with the Dodgers...

Well deserved. Earned a full time big league spot. Very happy for Jay and his family.

Groshans was claimed by the Yankees.

I just posted this in the other thread. I remember when he was heralded to be an impact player. It's a cruel game.

He was as high as 5th in our system. Cruel indeed.
