Well, only the steroid thing is logic, and even that is somewhat murky as it’s debatable how widespread it was. Advanced training should go both ways with hitting and pitching. Probably it’s the ball more than anything

The ball may have an impact yes. But I'm not sure the ball was "juiced" back in 1987 when a .260 avg / .800 OPS wasn't very good (in comparison). I do think we're approaching a point where hitters simply can't catch up physically to the high velocity. The body just can't react fast enough.

Chik fil a is awesome agreed

Going completely OT, I just got a Chick filet breakfast combo for $9 and I get this little tiny chicken slider and toddler sized box of hashbrowns. Should’ve came with crayons at least

Suburb pricing too. Not an airport or something.

That’s like the A&W coupons in Canada where you can get two teen burger meals for like 17.99 AS A DEAL

Give me a break

2 mozza burgers for $12.99. What a deal!

Those coupons rarely ever knock off more than a dollar from the usual cost. A&W has become very expensive for what it is lately, most fast food places are overpriced these days.

Went to try Taco Bell the other day, good luck trying to get anything under $3 anymore, and that’s the smallest cheap taco they have too.

I remember the days of $5 for 5 tacos or the McDs value picks for $1.39

Yep. Have to think a tipping point is coming soon where some of these chains start going out of business due to lack of sales. Or at least downsizing and removing locations.

I thought about this the other day too, how much will people continue to willingly pay for 1/4 pound of beef but people are so conditioned at this point they’d pay $18 for a Flamethrower meal because convenience

Learn 2 cook

Don't even need to do that. I just bought a full BBQ chicken, jumbo size 1.2kg, at Walmart for $12.99 yesterday. Cook some rice with that and open a can of beans and I'm done. Good for two dinners plus some meat left over for sandwiches on day 3. Total cost all-in including the sides probably around $20 for three meals. People talk inflation this and shrinkflation that but those full roast chickens in Walmart and other places have been pretty much the same price and same size for the last 5 years. Maybe up a buck or so but that's not going to break the bank. A lot of inflation and affordability crisis is due to people being lazy suckers. Plenty of cheap options out there for food that isn't total dogshit.

I live in the suburbs so my quests are a bit easier in this...but my advice is try to find restaurant places that are real holes in the wall that are in plazas or industrial areas in the middle of nowhere. Their rent is still pretty cheap and it's reflected in their prices. I can find good Thai and Middle Eastern options that can be had for $15 and it's a ton of food. Enough to split into two meals. A lot of restaurant inflation in the GTA is due to rent imo, not food costs.

Yeah but you're still cooking, or least preparing food. Some people can't even carve a chicken properly. Chicken also gets pretty boring after a while.

I could probably make a 10 meal chili for less than $15 and the entire process would involve nothing other than opening cans and browning some ground beef.

Roast chickens must be loss leaders for some of these grocery stores

Anyway, I love cooking so takeout prices being what they are is just a net positive for me. Less motivation to do the easy/unhealthy thing.

Well, the issue at hand is fast food. As someone said, there has to be a breaking point somewhere.

I get my precooked meals at the local grocery store for like $3-$6 on sale for 30-70% off before they expire.

Fast food is just nuts though. If I go to Jersey Mike, the big sub is like $20 lol. So you’re forced to eat less like you’re a fattie. I like my food. There’s a reason for the fast food craziness, but we know where that rabbit hole leads

Originally, fast food restaurants had be BOTH cheaper and faster than a sit down restaurant to succeed. However, in our new society where everyone crams their entire life full of activities, the fast food places have realized that time/speed is the primary focus of their target audience. They no longer need to be cheaper than a sit down restaurant. When you have to (or want to) eat at a restaurant, most people simply don't have time for a lunch or dinner that takes 1 - 1.5 hours.

Fast food no longer needs to be cheap to draw in customers.

I fall into this trend unfortunately. With 3 boys in rep baseball and rep hockey + a full time job, I'm on the go 24-7 and am often stuck eating on the road more than I'd like to.

The big win for fast food is that (for now) it's still socially acceptable to not tip. Thereby saving 15% compared to restaurants. They make sure there is a labyrinth in their debit-credit terminals to avoid paying a tip though.

I make chilli that is enough for 2 people for 3 days, large servings. More like $40 though.

I get what you mean, but I'm in the kitchen for maybe 10 minutes between stripping the carcass and making sure the rice to water to salt ratio is okay. The stove does all the work. If people can't spare 10 minutes to do that, it's on them. As for boring, if people are in poverty, boring SHOULD be the goal. Because excitement or volatility in life events for them revolves around not eating or not heating their place for that day.

Are you f***ing kidding me? First Wilner? Now Wagner? You f***ing corrupt ugly morons Rogers should RESIGN!!!! pant, pant (I don't know who exactly should resign but some ugly, stupid, greedy, dumb, privileged person in a suit).

OK. Here it is. 1977 to 2004 TOM CHEEK. 1980 to 2015 JERRY HOWARTH. Then Mike Wilner was like their side kick and started doing some play by play.

Was Wilner good? Probably not.

Did WIlner love his job and was passionate? Hell YES!

Did Wilner grow on you (as a play by play guy) YES!

Wilner was like a connection to the past and was set up for the future. He would have got better... then I guess came a few random guys after Jerry retired. Or did Wagner come right after? Wagner was now growing on us.

THEY ARE f***ING SUPPOSED TO KEEP THESE GUYS UNTIL THEY DIE!!!!!!!! It's supposed to be the voice of a generation. Wilner and Wagner should have both been given a contract for life until they died at 88.

Jesus. What a f***ing pathetic, discusting, bat-s*** corrupt world we live in. Fast food like 40 bucks for a meal, and announcers fired after 5 years. Disgusting.

Are they going to send them on the road this year?? Jays and Angels only two teams not doing that. It is flat out embarrassing, lowers the quality of broadcast and is the butt of many jokes and derogatory statements reflecting on Rogers/Jays.

Probably Wagner was earning 120,000 or something, which is good money for fly-over America, but like Poverty level for Toronto, and he asked for 150,000 or something so he could at least buy a god-damn meal at Wendy's in GTA.

Some Rogers f***ER who was earning 1.2 million in Salary for doing f***ing nothing, other than being privileged ******* fired Wagner for some poor ******* who would do it for 90k because it is a dream job. f*** YOU. THE GREED IS OUT OF CONTROL.

And obviously Shapiro was involved somewhow. What f***ing maniacs these people are. It's not just money, because who cares if they saved even 100k. That's meaningless. It's about them garnishing their ill-gotten power over the good common people like Mike Wilner, and Ben Wagner.

And don't f***ing marginalize what is happening, you may be comfy right now, but unless you are earning at least 500k and your boss is "the boss" you may be eliminated any time in a corrupt power game.

100% agree. There's just no excuse for that. What's the extra cost... 2 hotel rooms for all the away games of the season. That's what like.... 0.0000001% of the team's travel budget?
