I guess spanking isn't a thing anymore but my best friend had an attitude problem and a few spankings from my dad when he was over at my house did him real good. Wonder if Manoah needs one. I'm talking when we were like 8, not weird adult spanking fetish stuff, just good old discipline. Spank his way back into being a top starter.

On paper I like our pitching matchup for the game tonight a lot

Would be nice if for once we could go off against an Orioles starter

Grayson has looked really great since he’s been back. The bullpen screwed/didn’t help his ERA a couple of times since he’s been back

Grayson since coming back on 7/17:

6 GS, 1.0 WAR, 3.03 ERA, 2.96 FIP, 35.2 IP

Those starts were against the Dodgers, Rays, Yankees, Jays, Astros, and Padres.

He's been very good since he came back up.

Along with a late season visit to the Trop, this Orioles series is one of our two remaining road series against a winning team.

If we win this series, it will be smooth sailing from here and the playoffs will be easy to make.

That phrase was uttered in 2009. It's impressive it's managed to survive for 14 more seasons.

Was it ECJF?

Huge series upcoming against the Os. Realistically we need to take 2 of 3 or even sweep the series if we have any shot at winning the division. Even with a sweep we would still be 5.5 games back. After this series we play 15 games against 4 of the 5 worst teams in the MLB. We need to go 11-4 or 12-3 to put ourselves firmly in a WC position and be in a spot where we can still challenge for the division with our last 12 games against the Rays and Yankees.

Division odds are down to like 3%. I wouldn't worry too much about that or get your hopes up. If Toronto still had 6 or 9 games left against BAL then maybe it's worth cheering for but... I dunno. Slim odds.

2 of 3 or a sweep would be great for the Wild Card race though.

Grayson is one of the hardest throwing pitchers in baseball. I believe he's averaging close to 100 on his fastball and may be the hardest throwing starter (it's actually 97, just looked it up). I believe he was another former top 5 overall prospect and at one time was the best pitching prospect in baseball, was lights out in the minors, and lights out since returning to MLB except for (as others have mentioned) relievers letting his runs in (Fuji let like 2 in on hbp against the Jays).

Not sure this is going to go that great tonight. Obviously similar nice things can be said about Kikuchi, who is also lights out in the last 6 weeks, and has much better overall numbers (this year) than Grayson.

Well they did just pound Hunter Greene who has a harder average FB than Grayson.

Hopefully the Jays are "geared up" for velocity and able to turn on some pitches

I'm going to bet the Orioles tonight. If the Jays win, I'll be happy which will ease the burden of losing a couple of dollars. If the Orioles win, I'll be sad the Jays lost but at least the winnings will heal the wounds.

Sucks to be out of a spot. Playing 89 W pace ball right now. 64.3% chance to make playoffs.

Win this Series vs the O's and start rolling. All we can do. Cliché one W at a time.

But Espinal has options, why f*** with free depth, DeJong has been the better overall bat against LHP'ing this season and his defense is good? Saying that isn't egregious or anything it was an easy fix, call Espy back at worst in September.

Giants grabbed him

Just gotta survive right now with Mariners rolling, their schedule eventually gets tougher. Speaking of which, those 7 games against Yankees in final stretch starting to look a lot better, I bet Judge gets shut down by then too.
