It's not like he ever lit up the radar. I think he was maxing out at 91-92 MPH when healthy.

Yeah I thought feasting off Oakland pitching would have done him a bigger favour.

Any day now hell bust out and be more.than a fat .800 ops'er

Manoah back up.

Way too soon. He has yet to prove that he's where he needs to be. If he comes back up and gets shelled again this could be the end of his career. He needs more time in the minors to build his confidence. This is a horrible idea. They are rushing him back way too soon.

Ross is panicking big time.

Manoah back up.

Not sure I agree with that.. Why not let Francis make a couple starts? He's been good so far.

Manoah back up.

f***ing awful decision. One start in New Hampshire and they declared him fixed lol

Yeah calling Manoah up so soon seems like it’s going to end poorly. Not sure why they didn’t give Francis a genuine shot to start a few games. Atkins is 0-for-life when it comes to developing SP, aside from when Manoah was good, and stuff like this certainly won’t help. Some times teams create passable SP options by actually starting them in games. I know it’s a radical concept but it happens from time to time.

If this goes poorly I think you have to dismiss Atkins right away. Like this seems like an awful decision that unless he pitches well won't end well for a lot of people.

Puzzling move from an outside perspective, especially when they didn't need the 5th SP slot.

I can only speculate that they identified a major flaw in the pitching lab and are very confident in his mechanics moving forward.

I don't think they'd call him up if they didn't have reason to believe he has figured out what was causing himself to get shelled.. Unless someone is hurt. Panic narrative is dummmm

Bringing Manoah back this early is SO risky...f***ing yikes. If he shits the bed again it could end his career if he can't regain his confidence.

I don't think it's nearly that dire of a situation unless you think Manoah is a sensitive wallflower who can't handle a bit of adversity. It's far from ideal if he has to bounce back and forth a bit but ending his career because he has to go back to the minors?

I reacted with concern at first but then thought throw him back into the deep end, like they did when he first came up.

They must like what they see so lets get at it Friday night.

Yeah, this clearly looks like an awful decision and its hard to see a scenario where Manoah gives us more than 4-5 innings of 4-5 runs.

I think this will be very telling of the front office and whether or not they have a f***ing clue

I don't imagine Manoah will be given a lot of rope, so if he's really struggling early on he will most likely receive a quick hook. Francis and Richards will likely both be available to soak up innings if necessary.

It isn't the end of the world if he struggles, he can simply be sent back down to the minors to continue working on his craft. If he succeeds then the team added a much needed rotation piece, if he struggles and gets sent down they either make a trade or continue with the occasional bullpen days until Ryu is ready to return. I think the potential upside of a successful Manoah return likely outweigh the drawbacks of him needing to make more starts in the minors.

Lets be honest, he probably has an OK barely passable start against the Tigers. Then shits the bed for 3-4 starts before being sent down.

No way the front office sends him down right away if he implodes again. They’ll have to save face. He’s probably back in the rotation now until Ryu is ready or until a trade is made.

If Manoah really struggles the front office isn't saving face by keeping him on the roster, they would be actively costing the team a chance to win the games he's starting in. They would take infinitely more heat rostering an ineffective starter that wasn't ready to come back then they would if they reverse course and send him back down.

How is the panic narrative dumb? If Atkins had developed a single SP outside of Manoah we wouldnt be in this situation.

Manoah has spent what most people believe is the minimum amount of time he probably should have spent in the minors.

We don't have a farm system with enough pieces to make a huge trade for a SP.

We dont have a SP currently in the farm to replace Manoah. We cant sustain bullpen days.

Were not in the running for the division and barely keeping pace with the 3rd wildcard spot. Atkins is no doubt feeling the heat.

So call up Manoah sooner than he probably should be called up. Thats called panicking bro.
